The GPS Trackers I’m using run on the 4G Cell system, just like a cell phone. I’m not saying a GPS jammer wouldn’t work on them, but it’s not strictly a GPS-based system.

True though that if a thief wants something bad enough, they will get it. I’m lucky that I park my Taco in the dirt behind my garage. To get it out would require at minimum getting past a locked gate with another truck in front of it. It’s probably safer back there then it would be in my actual garage.

The most expensive jammer on this website is $500. Pretty cheap compared to a $40,000 vehicle.

That's the same way the 20+ Tacos do it. GPS is only a receiver; not a transmitter. Doesn't matter if the trucks GPS knows where it is if it can't send the signal out over the cell network.

Pretty clear by the post that OP did not hear the truck start.

Would you? I know I wouldn't. My wife works odd hours and comes home in the middle of the night sometimes. I don't hear her truck, the door, or even her getting in the bed.

Usually I can hear my neighbors start their car and leave. I sleep with a fan on most of the time, to drown out noise. Especially since I work overnights. So I guess it depends. However most people don’t, so that’s why I was asking.

UPDATE: They found it. Located it parked in Montreal. Cop I spoke to said the only apparent physical damage was a broken door handle on the driver’s side. But he also said he is sure it won’t recognize my keys because that’s how they steal them, they replace the computer. So now I have to contact my insurance again in the morning and see where we go from here. It will have to be towed.

My insurance company contacted the rental car company and when the guy called me he said I was the second person he was contacting in our town who had a Tacoma stolen last night.

    The saga continues

    CONGRATS on them finding it!

GPS trackers are cheap. $125 device and $25 PER YEAR for service. You do need to give it constant power though. (internal battery as well)

Horrible news. Hope it gets found safe and sound.

That being said I'll never buy a vehicle that uses those fob-things. Give me a key or give me death.
Not saying 100% that a Key vehicle doesn't get stolen, it's just that those fob-things are hackable.

Wife and I was considering a TRD but no key - no dice... went with the SR5 ( and a key ).
