Right before I got my license, my dad sold the 06 hahaha. Instead I got a '93 Chrysler Concorde.

you can expense the car for business regardless - purchase or lease. the accounting for it is different, of course.

in general, leasing is a bad idea - much more expensive. they're all kinds of things baked in you don't even have visibility to. my friend owns quite a few dealerships. he loves it when you lease a car from him... especially when you turn it in and/or try and buy it later.

however, i realize this isn't in your control and a leased car paid for by your dad is awesome!! better than no car!

    Congrats!!

Don't lease. Especially with 0%/36 on the new ones. Woodygg is absolutely right. You can expense a purchased car (depreciate it, or reimburse based on miles driven) with a business just like a leased one.

Bad parenting IMO. Kids should work to get what they want. Other wise they A. don't appreciate shit. and B. don't ever learn how to work.

I had a friend in high school whose parents bought him a 5.0 convertible mustang for his 18th birthday. That night going to another party, wrapped it around a telephone pole at 120mph. He was dead before I pulled him out of the burning mess. Skin came off in my hands.

Do yourself a favour kid if your dad offers you a brand new truck, Decline! He will think better of you and you will be proud of what you do end up getting.

Or you could just live off daddy for the next 20 years what do I care.
