A few years ago I went thru an intersection turning left, looked up and there was a 3" chunk of angle iron in the road.

Too late to dodge it and it caught the outside edge of my driver's side rear tire and shot up in the air ~30ft. Heard it go Fooom! I saw it come down in my rearview mirror and lol'ed as it bounced on the road.

The smile went away and I got that sickening feeling of dread. Couple seconds later...flop, flop, flop, flop. Cut the sidewall out of a Michelin.

Sadly that's not exactly a challenge. Of all the tires I ever sold working in shops, they were by far the most prone to sidewall punctures.

That and fuck patching those bastards. They have about 1mil of rubber before you hit the cords.

I saw a lot of that in my day.
We could be brothers from another mother. My family is from far northern California. About three hours north of San Francisco. On the coast.

Mine are all on the East Coast. Mostly Southern New Hampshire and Maryland. My parents house in NH was built in 1820 which isn’t all that old for the neighborhood. The oldest house in the state is in the next town over...1649.

I ran over a freakin Skunk and 3 of its ribs poked holes in my tire, changing the tire sucked because it smelled unbelievably bad.

My first vehicle, a 94 S-10, hit a piece of rebar kicked up by a big rig. Tire was down in no time. Was going 70+ mph and the inside of the tire was destroyed in the short time it took to slow down and stop.

In my 07 Ram 2500 backed over a thatching tine in my girlfriends parents yard. 10 ply didn't matter there.

Driving through a field in a 01 Silverado, I heard air hissing out as I had the windows down. Got out and watched the left front dropping and found the source. After pulling it out, found that it was a rusted roll pin. The rusted end was pointed like a needle, basically it was like running over a spike strip.

Just the other day I was driving through the barn with a compressor in the bed of a Polaris Ranger to inflate a front tire on a tractor. I got a little too close to the edge of a bush hog and clipped the edge of it with a sidewall. I heard it going. I got back in and floored it, heading to the garage because I didn't want to haul the jack back to the barn. The Ranger started pulling to the right just as I got to the garage and turned me right in front of the door. I was able to jack it up an swap to a spare right there.

Worked with a gentleman that had a cherry Porsche 944 turbo and was going over a RR crossing when he received a roughly 8" anchor bolt through the tire and rim. The absolute scariest is my little 5x8 trailers tires got a flat through the tread from a shotty little pine twig, those small trailer tires are so jank its criminal.

    This is why I run 10ply! /s

I pulled a 96 Bonneville I had in the late 90s into my front yard one day and had a near new Goodyear go flat. Crumbly little 3/16" twig went thru the carcass between the tread blocks.

Haven't bought a Goodyear since. Someone on here cracked me up saying. "That's what you get out of em. A Good Year.

On the trailer tires: Borrowed my FILs 4x8 with the little 12s and had a pinhole leak. When I plugged it it was like pushing the rasp thru a pair of slacks. They are super thin. I just bought him a new mounted tire/wheel as I didn't thing the tire had enough meat to hold a plug.
