I am holding out for a new set of BFG KO2's but I'm not sure they will get on the truck in time to make the trip this weekend to the Eastern Sierras.

The chains I want to get will work with my new tire size 265/75R16 but not the 265/70R16 - I called the chain company to confirm. Unfortunately pretty much all places will not exchange/return chains even if they haven't been used so I don't want to buy a set just to have for a few days.

So, do you have a set of chains/cables for P265/70R16 tires that I can borrow this weekend?

I am located in Oakland and heading to Hwy 88 on my way through Carson Pass. I can go through Livermore or Antioch.

Depending on your current tire you should be able to make it through the pass just fine. Just slow down and do not try any sudden braking or moves and you will be okay.

I grew up in the rust belt with snow so I'm not too worried about the winter driving, I am worried about the chain controls. I believe that last time I drove through I saw signs and stations for it on SR-88.

I called America's Tire and have an appointment for tomorrow late morning to get KO2's installed. Here's to hoping that I have no issues with the install and I can get on the road immediately afterwards.

I picked up chains at O'Reilly for the new tire size so I'll probably be all set.

California has some weird level 3 restrictions that require ALL vehicles including 4x4 with snow rated tires to use chains. I didn't want to chance getting stuck not able to legally cross a pass.
