Found some FJ SE Anthracite Wheels

I've tried from multiple locations in the past 2 weeks and all ask for VIN. and 'Chewy' up in Montana said the same thing.

Does your dealership out there ship?

 

YotaComa is spot on. The dealership here told me almost word for word what Yota is saying. Like I said, I have a 2007 FJ but because it's not an SE version they would not sell me the rims. I had no intentions of putting the rims on the FJ, but thought it'd work. Maybe because you only bought one rim your guy pulled some strings for you. I'd be interested to hear what they'd say if you tried ordering a full set of 4.

Sorry bud didn't pay that close attention to your earlier post. All I know is I'm having the same issue as YotaComa. The dealership here even went as far as charging my credit card, before finding out they weren't allowed to order the rims without an SE VIN and proof all 4 wheels were damaged or stolen.

I went in for an oil change and talked to the parts guy about these wheels. He told me that they are flagged in their system system to require a VIN now also. I also found out dealer cost is $110 per wheel. And this was the same dealership that told me before they would sell them to me for $275. I showed him my invoice where I payed $121 per wheel. It was priceless.

 

Those are just the silver version of the wheel that they have powder coated black after you order them.

You would save money buying the silver ones at normal price, and finding a local shop to powdercoat them for you.

So I ordered a set off ebay and was told by the seller that they were anthracite...and of course I open them up today and discover that they're silver. I'm trying to return them without having to pay shipping, but who knows what'll happen.

To expedite this, is anyone in or around NYC interested in a set for $500? I'd be willing to deliver a reasonable distance to deliver rather than ship them. 4 wheels, new in box with all the hardware. Let me know and I can deliver sometime this week/end.

 

If you have it in writing from the seller, you are covered on ebay and should get all your money back and get compensated for sending them back. If the seller does not offer that, open a dispute on ebay. They side heavily on the buyer side.

 

here's the scoop
basically Toyota put a stop on the order of the anthracite wheels to protect the FJ owners, so even if you have a VIN, they'll only release from the warehouse 1 replacement wheel not a set of 4.
there's plenty available in warehouses across the country, i know mine has 70+ wheels available, but dealers can't order sets of 4's obviously.
not sure how strict they are by if they went this far, i'm sure they'll keep track of the VIN's and limit the wheels that way too...

there's a way to get them though as a set of 4, there's dealers that had them in stock in their possesion before the Musolini orders came in lol
not sure how many sets left, but i just received mine today.
PM me if you're looking for them i'll get you couple dealers names that might still have them.

btw they are made in china, besides the color of them i don't think they are that special but i'm used to more quality rims made in germany.
and they do come with centercaps on them, as well as new lugnuts in each wheel box btw (i always questioned that since it was never listed anywhere)

 

Who is the "scoop" from?

I have not read or seen anything in writing from Toyota about them halting or stopping the ordering of FJ SE anthracite gray wheels? I would like to see it from Toyota.

And...I doubt your going to find any TRD rims made in germany.... Musolini hahahahhaha! man we are getting some history here. No doubt they are hard to find.......but I have not seen anything official from Toyota saying they won't sell them without an FJ SE vin#. When I bought mine a vin number was not even a topic of the conversation. For what its worth....

 

As I had said before, you put in your order before the lockdown was put into place.

 

I can second this, it was a surprise to even the parts manager at my local Toyota as he had never seen anything like it in his 20 years there; supply had over 200 sets but could not release any. Sucks...

 

As noted above - same w/ my dealer here....agree - sucks!!!!

 

Has anyone found anywhere that has them at all? I called a half dozen places over the country, all with the same answer. I thought I found a place, which called their distributor which gave the OK...and of course now 10 days later, they tell me they're discontinued. WTF!

Anyone found any decent gunmetal alternatives?

 

Have you considered buying the silver FJ TRD rims and having them powdercoated in gunmetal? This was something I considered before I found a set of the anthracite gray.

Ive got a full set I am looking to get rid of. I probably paid to much for them in the first place and don't want to loose any money on them. They are NIB Anthracites. I don't know how to post up a picture on here without linking it to somewhere else but if someone sends me their email i will be happy to email them actual pictures.... I am not hiding anything I would like to get 1000 for the set of 4. Sorry if you think its high keep your comments to yourself if you are going to say thats outragous. I understand its higher than you think you should pay but no one can seem to get these lately.
