With the "Tesla cyber truck" being essentially the same.

When trucks take this form, it no longer makes sense to offer MULTIPLE models. zero. you dont need a "tundra" AND a "Tacoma" at that point.
The auto-industry and truck manufacturers in general have demonstrated a HUGE market presence of buyers who will pay between $40k-$70k for "high-performance, factory equipped" trucks.

In the world of 'reddit' and 'facebook arguments' and stat-sheets being the end-all-be-all, it will be IMPOSSIBLE to market AGAINST the kind of numbers the Rivian truck or Cyber truck put down on paper.
"Normie" world will never be convinced about the god-like glory and experience of a 6-speed manual NA/gas truck. that feeling, the un-diluted satisfaction you feel in your soul when 3 slots into 4 in a perfect "shift". If you know, you know, and if you DONT, youre the target audience for a Rivian or Cybertruck.

In a world where "my wife" makes all the decisions, especially the ones traditionally left to men: (the truck/cars, home stuff etc..) there will be little other alternative:
If wifey read the
"the Rivian/cyber truck is the only truck you should ever buy and heres why thats a good thing"
article on her feed, these men would be powerless to refute "rivian truck stats" against a conventional model truck.

Long story short, youre in the last-gen. Cherish it. my heart already bleeds for the clutch pedal.

The Rivian is priced higher than a loaded 3-motor Raven Cybertruck. They are appealing the well heeled crowd and sales will be weak in my opinion, especially if they leave the ugly front styling on the production version.

It will be interesting to see how the BEV truck market shakes out between the Bollinger, Atlas, Rivian and Cybertruck. Tesla will be making a technology announcement in 2020, my guess it’s battery related, that will help keep it #1 in the electric vehicle segment. I think the Maxwell Technology purchase by Tesla will be bearing some fruit sooner than expected.

I don't think the people that implement regs like mandatory minimum vehicle mpg give a rats ass about how much consumers have to spend on maintenance costs.

The whole Tesla thing outside high population density areas is still a joke. It will be least 20 years before tech and infrastructure make it feasible for most of us. For commercial use, possibly even longer. It probably will never be feasible in states like Wyoming, Utah, etc. in our lifetimes.

We still haven't fully factored in the cost of battery manufacture and disposal. Those concerns are going to have big environmental impacts down the road, possibly making fossil fuel use the lesser evil to some extent.

As said before, 1 year delay for everything like a domino effect.

Some of my MY2023 and MY2024 information was quite pessimistic and extreme, as the timetables for some products listed, are even 1 year closer than I stated in annoyance.

MY2022 Tacoma is another minor & last update of any significance. Everything is new when? 2024. Save that. 4Runner is sooner. Some of you might already know this.

The first gen ran from '95-04

Second gen ran from '05-'15.

Why would anyone expect the 3rd gen to be replaced any sooner than 2025?
