Looks like his roof rack failed

 

Alright, after thinking about this for a short while I think I know what happened. He had the wood pointed up like that, but when he went into the parking garage the wood slammed into the ceiling of the garage. Due to the fact that the ceiling is so low, it pushed the wood downward, through the weakest part, which was underneath the tailgate.
He may have also hit something else that was low overhead? I guess he saw what happened, and was too pissed and just left it that way.

 

It might not have hit ceiling if the rack would've been used properly and definitely wouldn't have done that to the tailgate but as always.............his truck, nice internet fodder for others to ponder.

 

I was about to say, if that wood was up where I would imagine it being he wouldn't have cleared the roof of the garage

 

Maybe it was on top of the rack and, like said above, the rack failed causing the back end of the wood to fall into the bed and front of the to wood pop up and hit the ceiling which shoved it under the tailgate. I would have been so pissed, I probably would have just parked the truck and walked home.

 

Ouch!!!
