I just pulled my boat, 2300#,for the first time without any problems. 2012 Access 4 cyl. auto 5 lug. No trailer sway. I was worried it may not have enough weight in the ass, traction, to pull the boat out of the water , but it pulled it out no problem.

I just towed my 18' boat today for the first time, and it did great!!! It weights around 3,500 pounds so it's really pushing the towing capacity. But it did really good. I drove it on a hilly highway and it maintained 55 very easily. And pulled it out of a very very steep and slippery ramp with minimal wheel spin, power was not an issue just traction.

I was worried about it not being being able to make it up that ramp, but it did it!! :D

FWIW I back in the day I towed a 16' Chriscraft every week from Pacifica, Ca to Princeton, Ca. with this

all I needed was the hitch and a set of air shocks. Granted it had a 305v8 but it was only 160 hp. I am just trying to show that a Tacoma should handle that boat easily-4 banger or not.

Wow now that has to be overloading the 3500 towing capacity!

image.jpg image.jpg I loaded my 4cyl 5 speed with 20 gallons water/full tank of gas/2 five gallon jerry cans of fuel/three wheel barrels of mesquite wood/2 full coolers/ steel ramps/ quad full tank of gas/ tent/ gazebo/ self inflating mattress/ camp shower/sleeping bags pillows/ 25 pound bag charcoal/ riding gear. Almost riding on the bump stops doing 80 on the freeway with stock suspension from az to Cali to superstition mountain with no trailer a little bouncy but not too bad. I did the same thing again on the way to el golfo mx with kings x 4 and it was way easier but still wish I had a trailer. so I'm not putting so much strain on the payload and leafs.

When I was shopping for a Tacoma. I took into serious consideration a 4 cylinder TRD Sport in Micah. So they do make a 4 banger with TRD decals. I ended up getting a 4 banger SR5 and it has 6 lug rims. I threw some custom decals on it.

For anybody interested in pushing the limits of their 4-cyl, probably best to limit this behavior to prerunner/4x4, which have **bigger brakes** (and tires) than 5-lug.

Not towing, but I hauled 12 5 gal. buckets of hydraulic oil, 20 12 quart cases of oil, 2 pallets, and 10 50 lb bags of seed on my little 5 lug taco with a full tank of gas.
