Welcome to Utah! This thread is awesome, I wish there were more like it and much, much less about leveling kits.

Seriously. I am intrigued by the mindset of today. So i was curious...

Many people openly embrace laziness. Its socially accepted to live at home in your 20's now.

I have known others that have done this whole "quit work, do what i want for a year" thing. Its just a different way of living today.

    Pffft.

Inspiring trip. Thanks. Made a few road trips with my family growing up, mostly from Arizona to Montana to visit family, camping along the way in places like the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Grand Tetons, and Yellowstone. Beautiful country we live in.

Epic trip, OP. Thanks for sharing, it's very inspirational. I agree with the "Pfft" comment and would love to do this as well at some point in my life. Sometimes you just have to take a step back and look at what you're spending your 1 life doing. Nothing wrong with re-grounding yourself.

Epic trip! I'm planning a road trip though the west next summer. I've had my Tacoma almost 3 years and I've never slept in it. I've been on plenty of trips but always slept on the ground or in a tent.

I never shot any birds on the trip although I was tempted to pick up and air rifle. I could have fed myself pretty well. I have shot many ruffed grouse in maine and a few here in utah. Shot a dusky grouse here in utah this fall also. Only two birds in this thread I have shot.

Ruffed grouse is a very pale meat most of the time. Could be mistaken for chicken by someone that didn't know, but the taste is slightly different. Not gamey just more flavor. Very good. Ruffed grouse breast. Taken with the phone and not the best picture. The dark red line on the breast if from a piece of shot hitting the meat.

Dusky grouse is a darker red meat. Could not be confused with any chicken I have ever seen. More flavor than ruffed grouse and could almost be like venison. Almost and it would have to be a very young deer. It's the only way I can describe and others might disagree. Much larger bird too. This dusky was only about fifteen feet away and had it's neck stretched right out. Made for about as perfect a shot as you can ask for. Took it's head off without touching the meat.

I like Utah quite a bit. It's a beautiful state. Currently just north of SLC in Woods Cross.
