I just saw a 1st gen Access Cab in Seafoam green...

It may have just been my imagination, but in my head I heard AC/DC’s Stiff Upper Lip and the whir of a supercharger...

Cd changer? Oh no.Craig was cool. He had a mini disc player in his truck back then. According to Wikipedia, they stopped making them in 2013.

 

Yes, minidisc player in the dash and the 6 disk CD changer under the passenger seat. All state of the art from 1994.
Still have the Kenwood amp, kicker crossover, and SAS Bazooka Tubes from the 99’ in the 07’ - just replaced the speakers in the tubes with PYLE subs.

5 new t-slot nuts for the inner bedside rails. Hopefully I’ll get time to finalize the bike mount with the new HDPE spacers soon so I can finally get the cap back on...

 

Not sure on timing. Just wanna get it done. Getting alignment & tires rotated tomorrow too...

Truck day today!

Shipped out a bunch of grills and mesh this morning then after running a few errands I set to work.

Managed to get the stem bolts off without getting the angle grinder out.


The old ones were a complete train wreck.


All new & shiny billy b-110’s installed!


No pics but I also wrapped up the HDPE replacement bed rail caps so I’m hoping to get the cap back on soon.

 

Slept a bit late then got motivated enough to throw some soap & water at the truck:


Figured there was no better time than the present so I got started on the cap project:

First I had to haul it out of the back yard where it’s been sitting since the fall...

Sucker was filthy. Threw soap & water at that too.

I got a couple 1’x4’x3/8” HDPE sheets and fabbed up some solid replacement bed rail caps - more for spacers since the cap is designed to go on top of the stock plastic ones.
Had to get fancy with the Dremmel.
Driver:

Passenger (with cut outs for the bike mounts):

Test fit of the bike on the mounts:

Borrowed my neighbor to get it in position and measure for the necessary cuts. ( he’s a Jeep guy but I don’t hold that against him)

Moar magic Dremmel work:

centered it all up and bolted it down then put the bike back on.


Plenty of side clearance.

I took it out for a spin and everything is very solid. Went over some bigger bumps and the bike didn’t move at all.

Without the bike the mount sticks out about the same length as the rear view mirrors.

Now I just want some nicer weather so I can hit the trail.

Overall I’m very pleased with the setup, it turned out exactly the way I had envisioned I to.

Driving to work today and heard a pop.

Somehow the passenger side rear half of my glass shattered.


Got a piece of plexiglass from work and cut it to size when I got home:


A bunch of 3M double sided tape and it’s sealed.


Have absolutely zero clue how it broke.

 

Nope. Fucking mystery.

 

Had the same thing happened to me once in a Tundra. I never figured out how it happened.

 

Faulty temper perhaps?
