Nice! Gives me solace that we can complete our trip.

How much air are you running in the air bags

15-20psi but one bag always leaks, still can’t find the hole, even had a shop look for it.... nada
The airbags for me mostly controls the sway in turns, makes it feel like there’s no weight back there.

If I may ask, who makes those shock gravel guards?

Ah. Unfortunately those are part of my OME BP51s
    20200510_192406.jpg

I'd call them more of a mud guard as they're not super robust.
    20200510_192449.jpg

But they would prevent chipping from gravel

    Thanks for the pics!
Doesn’t look like it will work on mine, darn. Our shock piston rods have a high Rockwell hardness, but when you’re in granite or basalt country there’s a chance for a nick and thus tearing the seal.

    Finally joined the club!

The tie downs were just to get it home, its chilling in the garage while I await the brackets from FWC.

    Fleet shell with couch.

Been reading all the info I can get my hands on. WTW has been super helpful.

Initial plans are skme kind of storage units, solar and second battery, outlets for charging, adding a fan to the vent.

Any super hacks, easter eggs, must haves you guys recommended or resources?

Thanks! Can't wait to start adventuring in this thing!

    Patrick

Nice! I really like my remote controlled fan with reverse direction, so I can inject air when lifting the camper. I did solar too, but ended up installing a "Y" connector to an extension chord with a remote 100w panel that I could place in the sun if I'm parked in the shade. Also, the Lagun table is nice if you haven't seen it: https://www.rv-table-mount.com/

    Thanks!

Ordered the fan and 300 cleaner and protectant today. Also installed my bilstiens, coils, and timbren bump stops, woohoo!

That table looks awesome, but ours came with one.

We are going to do a 4 day trip with it as is and keep details notes on what we want to add.

Thermal kit is a definite must so we can winter stealth camp parking lots for first chair, haha.

    So stoked!

Nice! I actually made a thermal kit out of this stuff for a Yosemite winter camping trip, but the condensation buildup was not so good. :annoyed: GL!

I have in mind to get a FWC camper once I get the truck paid off, hopefully in a couple years. Most use would be going to paramotor fly-in events, so I'd likely need a small trailer to haul the paramotor, gas, wing and other gear.

Though most of those events are in warmer/hotter weather. Has anyone considered an air conditioner? I saw a video not too long ago of a guy that had a truck camper (more of a flatbed box type design) that had found a split unit that wasn't too big. I think that model is out of production, though.

Pretty difficult to engineer a system that can handle the power demands of an A/C unit. You would think that installing a duplicate car A/C would be simple but I couldn’t find one

We’re running with 2 160 watt panels from Overland Solar. One nice thing about these panels are that they are designed and built to be mounted directly on a sailboat’s roof and walked on! They’re built tough and have a grippy surface similar to a golf ball. They’re a great small company based out of Boise, ID

At the truck’s current location, from 6 pm until 9 am, the panels are shaded and the battery provides camper power and typically uses about 22 amp-hours or 300 watts of electricity running the frig. In 2 1/2 hours (9:00 am to 11:30) of sun, the battery is fully charged. Don’t need to run the truck to keep the battery charged

I have an A/C in mine, but it's ran off of shore power, or my Champion inverter generator. Easily drops the temp inside the Northstar by 20 degrees. You can see it on the right side in the picture below:

I wouldn't attempt to run it off of battery. I figure a 5000BTU unit would be more than enough, and some of those sized window units only draw around 600W of power. A little 1 or 2kW generator, or shore power could handle that. I'd tote a generator with me when needed. I've already done that with a travel trailer.

Something easily removable would be neat. There's the Zero Breeze Mark 2 that is portable. The exhaust hoses would need to be routed, but that could be done with a board out the window or something.
