Why drive around with a 100# of jacks on? FWC was saying most of the repairs they do are from people hitting the jacks in parking lots.

I have a question regarding a FWC Eagle. I found a 2004 Eagle and would like to know what needs to be done for it to fit properly in the bed, evidently it needs to be raised up where it sits in the bed or it will rest squarely on the bed rails.
The camper is pretty bare bones, no fridge, sink, stove , furnace or water heater , the seller says it’s about 530 lbs, I have a stock 23 OR long bed and was wondering what suspension mods, if any, will be needed, I’m thinking a minimum of airbags.
Any guidance on this would be greatly appreciated!

Add 1 1/2" pieces (stringers) to the ones already there on the underside of the floor. This should raise it enough to clear the bedrails. I would epoxy the stringers or waterproof them before adding them.

That Eagle is narrower than the current Fleet model.

Do you have the bed brackets for the truck?

With that light weight of 530 pounds, perhaps Timbrens would be fine.

I don’t see any stringers on it in the few pictures I have.
I don’t have any brackets/ tie downs, the camper doesn’t even have jacks, not sure how they even got it on/off their truck unless they just left it on.

You will need to fabricate/purchase bed brackets.
    And turnbuckles.
And three pieces bedmat. Helps control the Eagle from sliding around.

There should be stringers about 1" wide on the bottom of the floor. If there are none, then perhaps add a sheet of Styrofoam (SM) with 1/4" plywood to raise the floor.

Ask some questions at : https://www.wanderthewest.com/forum/forum/4-four-wheel-camper-discussions/ A lot of knowledge there.

Super bummer, I just pitched my old bed brackets. Tried to sell long ago but no interest.

You don't need to elevate the eagle higher. It should fit. I did place the rubber tacoma bed mat below my Finch so it would hrlp prevent movement.

I can officially post in this thread!
I bought the 04 Eagle I was looking at.
It doesn’t have jacks and at only 530 pounds I will probably leave it in the truck for awhile, trying to avoid the 1k + for jacks right now.
I do however need the FWC mounting kit but it’s not on their website. I will call them tomorrow but in the meantime does anyone have info on the kit or another safe way to secure it? I will need to pick it up this week so need to come up with something

On 1 in 50 chance you live near Seattle, I just bought a Fleet off a guy up there and told him he could keep his bed bars as I already had a set. PM me if you want his contact info. I found my bed bars from an ad on Wander the West; you might try posting a want ad there.

Thanks but I have to have them in the next couple days , I have to pick up the camper in the next few days so was hoping to find some local, I found a couple on FB group but they don’t want to mess with shipping them. Do you know how much FWC charges for them?

Per the FWC web site, they charge $995 to install a camper on a Tacoma (including wiring) vs $795 for mounting on a different truck where bed bars are not needed....so I'd expect them to be not more than $200 for a set. Maybe more if you want the turnbuckles.

No, it opens like a regular camper shell and drop the tailgate.

There was someone on Wander the West that said it should be called Project D for Dust.
