Any suggestions how to mount an awning to side of a Fleet that did not have the factory one?

Mule makes awning mounts that use the jack points.

Good to know! Is the Mule kit only the two uprights on the Jack points with expectation the awning will bridge the two posts? or does it include a cross bar between the post in case the awning that may not be wide enough to reach both posts.
Reason to ask is I want to add a shower enclosure which mounts like an awning but is only 42” wide.

So the awning is what bridges the two mounts together. I mounted my shower awning to the drivers side and mounted it through the outside and attached it from the inside just to have the most secure mounting for that.

Thanks for info. So basically drill holes thru the wall and bolt from inside out to the shower tent with silicon sealant around the holes on the outside.
I’ll look for my photos from the FWC open house factory tour and see if I can find a picture of the Skelton to show what structure they have running along the top edge before drilling

I had a Zero Declination shower tent installed on my Grandby by a shop in Reno that was recommended by FWC when they were backed up during the Rona. They knew where the frame was and where to drill.

    EDIT: Pic added

A guy I met at grand canyon in April used a stud finder to locate where to drill on his Project M.

I’m seriously considering buying a Swift; I’ve done a bunch of research and have one last issue to resolve before I can pull the trigger on the purchase. Can I fit my 2020 double cab short bed Tacoma with a Swift in my rather tight garage?

For the life of me I cannot find any solid numbers on how much the Swift *actually* extends past the end of the bed (and by that I mean past where the inside lip of the tailgate currently sits).

I understand that the Swift is 70 inches long at its floor; the inside bed length of my Tacoma is 60.5 inches (front of bed to inside of the tailgate). However, I know that the Swift won’t butt snugly up against the front of my bed on account of the bumpers built in to the front of the Swift.

Would anyone be able to give me some measurements as to how far from the back of the front bed rail the Swift really extends? And/or give me some measurements as to the gap between the front of the Swift and the back of the truck’s cab?

In answer to my question, I found this link on another TW post of how to mount an awning.

86FB1D5E-BAB8-4A73-9C5D-B82E5DACF1B8.jpg Howdy, I have a 22 DCSB with a swift- I’m considering the deaver stage 3 springs. Suspension is currently stock with air bags (…leaking). Any impressions? Still 2” lift with the camper on? Since I have Daystar cradles I’m prob already getting 2” with my airbags at 60psi. Thanks!

Here's a timely thread. Good luck, that's a sweet setup.

I have a DCLB Tundra with a FWC Granby (just about every option) and went the Alcan route. Sent him my empty and loaded weights, told him I wanted 2.5 and they nailed it, no regrets.

As an anecdotal review I can point out that the FWC company chose the Deaver Stage 3 for their Tacoma/Fleet Display model they had at Overland Expo. They also added a rear sway bar but salesperson did not know which brand that was.

I have the Deaver Stage 3 leafs, along with air bags, icon stage 3 shocks, and icon hydro bumps. Love the way it rides when loaded. Super smooth, no uncontrolled sway, 10/10 in my book. I usually sit higher in the rear, sitting in a drainage a little bit here so doesn’t look higher. Also, what is your camper layout? I thought the swift only came in the roll over option. You look to have a front dinette.

I have been researching various camper options and the 4 Wheel Camper is one of them. I like the looks of the Fleet front dinette option. I am just not able to reconcile the numbers when it comes to payload. Even a modestly built Fleet front dinette is topping the scales at over 1400-1500 pounds. That doesn't include water, fuel, food, gear etc. My truck's payload is 1050 pounds according to the door jam sticker. Modifying the suspension, installing airbags with cradles, adding E rated tires, upgrading the brakes will certainly help with driving dynamics, vehicle handing, braking etc, but none of those things will help with payload. How are folks with 4 Wheel Campers addressing the payload issue?? No modification will help the payload numbers when it comes to what the frame of the truck can safely support and carry.

I am also considering a Kimbo camper which is quite a bit lighter. It would still top my payload by about 100 pounds or so (not including water, gear etc).

My goal to is have a nicely built camper. Not really too interested in a Project M, GFC, Alu Cabin etc even though they are much lighter. I really want an actual camper.

    Thanks!!

You’ll have to decide the risk vs reward for yourself but I opted for extensive frame mods, suspension mods, axle mods to comfortably carry our front dinette fleet, but also lots of mods to both truck and camper to minimize weight wherever possible
