Per FWC a full(non-shell) Swift is 935 dry. Has 20 gallons of fresh water storage and 20lbs of propane storage which is close to another 200lbs so lets say 1125 wet. Loaded with gear you could easily hit 1400. Im sure you could go over that depending on gear but saying a Swift is 1400 before gear and water is inaccurate.

A cold weather pack, which is an extra layer of insulation for the canvas that velcro's into place, will definitely help retain heat. But no its not going to hold onto heat for very long when its subzero. Hell, a hard sided camper wont either.

The weight listed on my Finch wasn't accurate so take FWC weights with a grain of salt.

Tightness will be subjective of course. I love the size and if I was a dog person it wouldn't bother me at all, I know people living solo in fleet or hawk flatbeds though so...swift still has the pull out near-queen size bed, but you're also still living in a hallway :)

Subzero or below freezing? I am regularly below freezing with vents open, furnace at 55 runs intermittently. Below zero with furnace set at 50 will be running a lot of the time and far corners will be probably low 40s at best. I like to sleep cold and have heavy duty down duvet, but below zero will get cold. Canvas is canvas and normalizes fast.

Arctic pak is a must for both cold and heat, you will wake up in the morning with condensation frozen solid on the inside of the canvas in the air barrier!

Condensation is the danger always be on condensation patrol and watching for signs of mold in cold weather.

Maybe you could modify them to make them quick release. Once you have the top up, pop them off and set them aside.

    Good luck!

according to my FWC flatbed Fleet sticker I’m 1,400 lbs with 25 gallons of water and 10 gallons of propane. My camper has hot and cold shower, toilet, 2 solar panels, lithium battery. I would never have considered running this without a MAJOR suspension upgrade

my wife and I plan on living full time in this as we travel around the world starting this May

Yes fully loaded w dogs and all our food, beer 26gal h2o, 5 gal gas can, dual solar +dual batteries, all my rec gear... etc me inside ready to head back out into the bush. I tip the scales at 7810lbs! To be honest it hasn’t stopped me to get anywhere I’ve wanted to go. Granted I’m not ledge hopping (wouldn’t have the camper on) but truly impressed on the capacity of our tacos. And yes suspension upgrade is highly recommended if your taking it out beyond the end of the road.
If your just taking the family to campgrounds and our wondrous National Parks you can get away with less spending on suspension mods.
Just passed 107k on the odometer and still going! :)

Wow! Nice to see someone has a taco heavier than mine. How many miles do you have on it?

First year is the honeymoon period, next year and a half your adding this and that and builds up on weight (like recovery gear.... ever think what it takes to winch yourself backwards) 3rd year you have a policy.... something comes in something has to go! Lol

IMO don't try to retrofit a diesel heater. IMO you made a good decision to buy a camper already plumbed for LP. Retrofitting requires a lot of work.

Anybody interested to read, these guys https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=703569 have threads about how to retrofit diesel and LP furnace to a body-on-frame vehicle.

There's many factors that have to be accounted for, which is why a factory furnace is preferable, IMO.
