After buying my DCSB and a Kamparoo trailer, I saw the FWC's. Everytime I see a finch sitting perfectly in the 6' box I cry a tear.

    Finch + Longbox = sex.

15 Tacoma and 15 four wheel camper fleet with forward dinette.
Trd supercharger, Afe intake, 4.56 years, arb lockers and cmka12 compressor, 255/85r16 st maxx, icon extended travel 2.5 coilovers with CDC, icon upper control arms, icon 2.5" rear shocks with CDC (longer than standard and valved 25% firmer). Rear springs at this time were OME dakars with extra leaf installed, upper overload removed, using allpro ubolt flip with a taller and softer timbren rubber spring. Right now the truck is on stands with no leaf springs, having custom progressive springs built to carry the camper full time. Wheelers superbumps in front.

Love the setup overall. Now it has tons of power, climbs hills like a beast, great off road. Probably selling soon as my second kid is due in a month and a half and it is getting a little small for us.

I always wanted one but can't afford one.

I've thought about making my own though...

Ever see one of those pick up sleeper shell on a 2nd geration taco. The ones you pull the back window out for and keeps your truck bed a bit useable.

To be honest... this is the set up I think works best with Tacomas...

It's practical and makes perfect sense with our small trucks. It doesn't add nearly as much weight as a camper, or a trailer or a RTT. Also It's aerodynamic and reduces drag, instead of increase with all the other options I see out there.

I'm glad you found a solution that fits your needs perfectly. Some of us are older and have larger families and require other options. I have a Flippac on my truck and we enjoy it greatly. But not so much that I'd consider crapping on someone else's thread about their preferences and interests.

@aficianado, don't tell my wife about the Pheonix campers as I've already caught her browsing the Kimberley website.

It could be pretty cold if not a perfect summer day. A camper or trailer can offer a warm furnace to dry out, beer fridge and cooking facilities. Trailers, even small ones have showers.

Love the extra 6 inches or so. A 7 foot may sit over the axle even better.

Yes, but with an electric heater, or a small propane heater, you will be quite fine in such a small space.

Also, a fridge can be added in the access cab portion, as well as a small portable shower from your trucks engine, or a propane tank.

So many options and a lot of cool ideas on the forums. I just have this thought of having more than we really need here in America...More is better. Hmmmm, not really.

I can understand if you have a family, but it's just so darn practical an efficent.

@Palehorse1 No Sir. I didn't mean to come across capping on someone else's thread, and apologize if it sounded so. I just wanted to offer another idea.

I like to think outside the box, and be practical for my current life situation. I'm sure it could benefit someone who was thinking about camping in their Tacoma, but was on the fence about spending so much for a camper, etc.

That's what TW posts are about. Helping others. :)

Brian I think your setup is my favourite truck on TW. Very clean looking.

Did you leave the camper on for some winter use? or do you have it stored with a dehumidifier running in it like I do?

Four Wheel Campers is a brand of camper , maybe you weren't aware of that , but I think that is the intention of this thread

The FWC Finch, shown above, was made for the short bed and was only 69" wide. It fit perfectly on a long bed Access Cab without too much side overhang and allowed for use of the tailgate.

The sad news is only the wider Swift is now available. It's 75" wide, which means more side overhang. After March 1st, the 69" wide Eagle model, which has a 6.5 floor will be discontinued as well. After the 1st of March, the FWC Fleet and Swift are the only two left in their line up that fit into a Tacoma.

If FWC would bring back the Finch, I'd definitely pull some funds out of the retirement account, with a tax penalty and order a shell model with a furnace. A Finch shell model with the furnace option probably weighs close to 650 lbs. So, suspension and tire upgrades are must do.
