    In follow up

I spent a few minutes investigating just now. 'Three point turns on a combination of inclines in various modes of power transmission. (sorry, no paved surfaces, I would need to drive a mile to the nearest.)
The results tell me that 90 % of what was felt as "wrong" yesterday is in the "Hill Hold" braking feature. When I was doing the 3 point turn yesterday, I was relying on the slope of the land to provide the lions share of backing up. The felt drag of the "automagic" braking system was replicated in today's trials. That brake hold function was masking the true action of 4X4. I've never had "hill Hold" on a MT. Only with slush boxes. Damn, I thought I was getting a rig without that crap by selecting a MT. They don't give you all the options at the salesman's desk ;-)

post #1 and post #11 both led towards a dragging brake sensation and questioning.
I tried to do my part. But, threw it off the track by describing a "constant drag" in post #1

Yep, the hill start assist could be what you're feeling if you have that feature and are trying to roll backwards. This has been the cause of many confused threads on this forum.

post #18 mentioned some of the others. I can't get home quite a few days each year without 4WD or an AWD alternative. Snow, Ice, and Mud. We have lots of all three. ;-)

The post of mine you quoted was #14. Kinda hard for me to know what's in post #18 at the time.

    So. Many. Stickers.
    Sports don't have ATrac.

Hill start assist or "hill hold" releases after about 3 seconds.
