Amazon has people that negotiate freight rates. They get deals.

    neglect, mostly.
we use fedex and ups. fedex used to be cheaper but their prices went up for us this summer around july so now it's tit for tat. . . but still, i can get a 20lb box to california for $25 easy with either service.

they are expensive. Amazon has a corporate account / contract with them to get a lower rate since they ship so much. If I ship anything through UPS I send it from work as we get a reasonable discount on our business account.

My giftee's stuff came in today. Adding a couple things and sending it out tomorrow. If UPS calculated shipping is correct, someone on the east coast will be getting there's early next week.

    Eh, I wouldn't say there's a big "wow" factor.

It should hopefully compliment something they purchased at some point earlier this year though.

My giftee was a little tough. No blatant hints, no build thread. Stalked what I could.

here is my rule for shipping.

if its small..USPS has the best price

if its larger and heavier..UPS as the best rates

I seem to find i can ship lots of stuff pretty reasonably..
