Same. My thinking on it is similar. That and the load up front is a constant. But the rear can change depending on gear/cargo/towing, so adjusters out back may be beneficial.

Yeah, I was looking at Kings but they are out my my price range. I did stumble on these yesterday. If anyone is looking for a good deal on some 2.5 extended travel coils (600 pound spring ) I just called to see if it was for one or the pair, yep its a pair. $1074 is a wonderful deal.

Just bought the same set up as the OP. Got the 117’s for the rear. Those the correct ones? Installing a HS 3leaf pack for 1.5” rear lift. Got the guard ordered for the PS also. Am I missing anything? Thanks OP for talking me into this set up.

Update: father gave the wife his '08 silver Taco 4x4. Did all necessary maintenance (wheel bearing, timing chain, etc), had Wheeler's off-road put Toytec coils (Eibach 620lb coils... Same as on the Fox coil overs) on Bilstein 5100's, and recall leaves with 5100's out back (Wheeler's super bumps all around of course!!!!... Some fender trimming as well to fit these...). Happy patient sold me his XD wheels and 285/70/17 Nitto terra grapplers (18k on Em) for $700. Put 2 JL audio 10's behind the back seat, JL components, and a Sony touchscreen in her and the wife is happy... Happy wife, happy life.

Point: FOX is waaaaaaaaay more forgiving. Billies are stiff as F. Granted, her truck handles like a race car and straight awesome on-road (first road trip this weekend and rides better than a Lexus), but my Foxes are super plush by comparison when hitting the S. Like both a lot, but if you are going to wheel your truck, spend the extra $800-1k for the Fox setup. The valving is second to none... Why they keep it secret.
3 turns up on the driver's out of the box, 265/75/16's and wheel the F outta it... Like me.

Just installed 265/75R16 Milestar Patagonia's on the Yotota fellas. Simply the best tire I've ever driven on, period. $136.68/tire shipped from "the devil" Amazon. Tech said they're the ONLY mud tires he's ever not had to make a single adjustment on when road force balancing in 20 years. They ride like car tires (got up to 80mph) and have almost ZERO road noise. Will likely be doing a review of these tonight. I'm straight mind blown. Better than Wife's '08 Taco's 285/70R17 Nittos, my old KM2's, Goodyears, and even my dad's '19 Taco's Michelin road tires. Pics to come after my truck gets a wash haha, Mully would be disappointed if I posted pics right now! Will add a quick preview though...

Washed... she’s gonna get really really dirty this weekend. Want to turn up the 2.0’s to where I should’ve set them, but just not worth the $ for the alignment and all. She looks pirty though in the yard...(note the rear bumper, haven’t posted pics in a while. Twisted factory “bumper” crossing the creek... not a bumper, more like a chrome plated pos. Body armor replaced it. Jumped, bumper hit. No twisting!! 7F262EB0-FC83-4EA3-B36F-A84BF3C3E164.jpgEB9C4FA4-0E72-4814-A8D1-982E865BE369.jpg A98078BE-45E4-4AC1-AC90-4132B65D8349.jpgC72489EA-DB81-40D9-AF44-73BB5B59A72A.jpg

8708BB5B-83E1-48D0-90D9-AF5932261EDD.jpg Wife’s Yotota on 285/70R17’s with the bilstein setup. Toytec Eibach 620 coils (again, same as Fox 2.0’s) on Billy 5100’s, rear 5100’s, and recall leaves... handles like a track car it’s so stiff. Dead level though. JL Audio all around with 2 10’s out back and Sony iPhone mirroring head unit. Happy wife, happy life. Point: FOX!!!!!!!! Iffff you want a super plush ride off road. You drive these two trucks and you’ll know where the extra $$ went... to straight sweet aluminum awesomely valved awesomeness. P. S. More test driving on those stupid cheap Milestar Patagonias and will say the wife is getting those once the Nittos need replacing. Hear ya on the cab chop Mully, prob ain’t happening, she’s just gonna scrub a bit on road until the Patagonia’s wear a bit. Really don’t think her rig can handle what I do to mine. Suspension not there. Looks nice, just not FOX. Do what I say fellas and your rig will fly... if you want it to! 4D07D708-CC62-4E60-BE52-31312ADEE0E1.jpg

OP, do you know if the “remove to adjust the fronts” only applies to more preload or also backing off preload, too? No matter what Al is soft so just curious. Nice post. Thanks.

Anyone have any regrets going with 2.0 over 2.5?

No, but after 43K miles on them I am stepping up to Kings. My driver CO finally started to slightly leak at the seal.

Would be interesting to hear, not sure I really even know the differences between the 2.0 vs 2.5. Is it just the increased heat dissipation from the larger body? Just wondering if it is overkill. The aluminum bodies on the 2.0 is attractive.

Got my 2.0 RR rears in today. Waiting on UPS to drop the fronts and AAL. Somehow I was home for one and not the others???

Anyway, the rears are marked on the carton for 4 Runner/FJ and have another bushing in a baggie. I'm assuming from reading here (cause the directions from FOX dont reference it) that I need to replace the factory installed bushing with the one in the bag for them to work on the Tacoma?

    Any tips or tricks?

    Thanks!

Use a socket and a hydraulic press to push out the old bushings... what I would do if had to do it again. I locked my shocks in a vise with shop towels to protect from scratches and carefully hammered them out using a spark plug socket and rubber mallet, then hammered the new ones in... wasn’t fun, but totally worth the effort.

As far as 2.0 vs. 2.5, I went with 2.0 bc the aluminum doesn’t corrode and dissipates heat quite well (actually comparable to the 2.5 according to Fox). Granted, the 2.5’s have a lot more oil (if desert running, etc) and is a stronger shock. Springs are the same eibach 620lb coils. Surprised Mully’s is leaking, have had zero issues, but mine aren’t “cranked up” as high as his. Maybe there is a reason Fox told me over the phone to not raise them that high? no offense to my boy Mully.
Lastly, .jake: Fox told me to remove them and compress the coils whenever making height adjustments. Mully has the first gens and was able to adjust his with the truck at full droop. My juevos aren’t big enough to attempt that. Bc 2.0’s are aluminum, you risk stripping the threads. One of my reasons for this whole post is to give people the info they need to set height and never worry about it again. 3 turns up on driver’s out of the box.
6 up on driver’s and 3 up on pass if you are pulling your front flaps and fitting 285’s in there (will need 1.25” wheel spacers on factory wheels for that as well).

No worries Brother, these COs are worth every penny and more. They ride great even cranked up, but I have a lot of weight hanging off the front of my truck. Think that helps when you crank them up to 3". My leak is only a very slight seepage that just started and I got over 43K miles almost 8 years before this happened. I will be rebuilding them after Kings are installed. They still look brand new after everything I have put them through. I wheel my truck in Moab each year. One hell of a good product.

Well, I dont have a hydraulic press or a vice, but I do have sockets and a C Clamp! The first took about 15 minutes to figure out a process where I could keep everything lined up. The second took about 5. Did it sitting at the breakfast table. Thanks for the inspiration. Hope to get them on this afternoon.
