Nothing to see here, just a 21 year old who knows more than everyone else. Been on the internet longer than everyone else too. Wouldn't even know AIM, Myspace, or hotmail if he saw them.

Go watch said video for a real world comparison, and you might be suprised to find out the stock is actually better than some "upgrades". So yes I am saying is fox 2.0's will likely make your ride worse than stock. In shock value season 1 the high end fox 2.5's ranked the worst amongst what was tested. In season 2 a cheap set of 5100's still out performed modified high end 2.5 fox's. And not to mention this is tested doing what you want to do.
The old guys on here are suggesting to run as is and buy better as it will just end up costing you more down the road as most will not hold up long term. The 6112 will far out perform the fox 2.0 simply based on oil volume. Most of us have learned this by making the mistakes early and ending up where we are now. Could of skipped 4 steps inbetween with what we have learned and saved a boat load of cash.
I ran elka 2.0's for 2 years snapped a shaft and recently blew bolth fronts and damaged the rears piston somehow to the point it clunks constantly. Now I'm on 2.5 rears and 2.5 DC's up front probably where I should of started but I didn't think running fire roads and slow trails would of been to much for them. We'll guess I was wrong and lesson learned.
You walk around all high and mighty like it's a good thing you grew up with the internet. Might want to learn how to use it like the tool it is and learn somthing before you start dumping cash mindlessly. Build it to suit your use understand aftermarket from a big name doesn't instantly mean it will be good. Go read up on digressive, linear and progressive valving so you know what your getting from this various companies.

It’s crazy how I asked for a comparison/advice on fox2.0’s vs 6112’s. This is my daily driver truck, I’m not going to cut it up and modify it into some racing machine. It took this long for one of you to finally say, the 6112’s are better. I will never heavily modify this truck, I’m looking for a cheap suspension upgrade. I know how to use the internet, that’s why I came to this forum. The first reply I got was completely irrelevant to my post, and was designed to start an argument. Yall are lost.

If you can swing it get 6112's and 5160's in the rear. If you want to save a few bucks go 5100's on all 4 corners.

As someone who literally popped a tire landing off a jump while racing a dirt road last week... I have >$30k into this truck aftermarket and it's only just now becoming fun at speed.

Set your expectations low because you're driving a mid-travel Tacoma. The rear will always be an issue when you are MT and it does not take much up front to start outperforming the rear. Go with a clicker 2.5 set-up up front and then pretend that nothing else exists and there is no further improvement available and you will be happy.

Also, don't mind the bitter folks in this thread. The 3rd gen forum is filled with people who change their oil every 3k and whose top priority is relocating the AC condensor drain. All of the people doing really dumb shit with their truck moved over to Technical Chat and the Long Travel forums.

Love how bigger and better the 5100's are over the oem Off Road Bilstein shocks, and the Fox 2.5 review....

Oh sorry. I was being polite. What I was really thinking is that you are 15 year old that has never left the country club.

I mean yea that’s reasonable. I wasn’t expecting much, just slightly better ride quality, a level in the front, and less rattle off road. I’ve been riding stock and find it awesome. Like I said, not tryna win a baja lol.

Air down to 20 psi, remove your front sway bar, and call it a day.

And just some advice since you seem to severely need it, don't act like a dick when seeking advice. The universal truth is that everybody eventually realizes how dumb they were when they were young as they get older. Typically it's pretty embarrassing in retrospect. Older people are just trying to help you out by giving you practical advice. Ignore it at your own peril.

The issue is that tuning makes a big difference. The 3rd gen forum crowd will just repeatedly link you the same 3 YouTube videos of the same 2 channels that tested the same 5 shocks as gospel. And they're an OK source. But testing untuned racing oriented shocks is just clickbait and a massive waste of time because they will pretty much all perform much worse than stock when untuned and much better than stock when tuned.

I started my journey on Accutune Fox 2.0's. They were a substantial upgrade over stock in both on and off road ride quality. But they weren't sufficient for how hard I was pushing them off-road and while I could retune them, they'd then be worse on-road. So I upgraded to King 2.5 clickers. Softer on-road, harder off-road and that was pretty much my sweet spot. I think most people would be happy with that configuration.

Nowadays I run dual 3.0's up front with a 2.25" long travel and a SUA conversion in the rear and hitting jumps and doing 60+ in rocky river beds is perfectly viable. But you'll never see that with MT and as long as you accept that you can be find true happiness in a good MT setup. ;)

True enough but I'll also add that the older people acting embarrassingly in this thread have no excuses, though. ;)
