I had the Fox 2.5's on for one year and they started to leak oil after 5,000 mi. I rebuilt them and they were never the same!!

In the year that I had them it seemed like they needed constant attention. Not cool!! I want something that I can put on and ride the shit out of without constant maintenance.

I went with OME 887's with their newest struts and a quarter inch spacer.

I couldn't be happier!! The ride is great and they are tough!! I air down a little and the ride is smoother than when I had the Fox 2.5's.

FYI, My truck is a ranch truck and hardly ever sees the pavement. Old Man Emu is the stuff for me!!

I don't hear many people making the switch that I did. I guess some people would call it a down grade of suspension, not me.

Weird, people usually go the other route, upgrading from OME to 2.5" COs.

I just wasn't impressed with the 2.5's! They were way too much maintenance for what I want (Fox told me that I would have to rebuild them once a year and that is not what I expected from a fox product. The OME set up is maintenance free and the ride is just as nice!!!!

I wish I could say the same. I am glad that the icons are working for you! I liked the idea of having the 2.5's, it just didn't work in an every day use situation. I use my truck as a tool and the Fox 2.5's didn't cut it, so I "down graded" and am very happy with the Old Man Emu. Like I said, when I air down just a little (23psi) they ride just as nice if not better. I felt like I needed a pit crew for the Fox 2.5's maintenance.

I have had the OME for 5 months and no problems, no maintenance. Put them on and ride:) Just the way I like it.

I often wonder if I just got some duds from fox, but when I called them, they said that I should really rebuild them every 500 miles. Forget that!!!!

I want to install, ride, and forget about it.

I am sure some people like to work on their trucks a lot, but when the truck is a part of what I do on a daily basis, I don't want to worry about a rebuild every 500 miles.

Thank you all for letting me vent. I just thought Fox was the best until I used them and I am too shy to try any other 2.5's because of my experience.

I will stick to the Old Man Emu!!!! They rock, and I use my truck off road every day.

Every 500 miles? What is up with that?

Ive had my Icons on for four years and 45k miles and only wash them once a year and lube them 2x a year. Been PERFECT so far. I do have the coil-over covers though. But it protects them real well!

I think Fox recommends a 500 mile rebuild for trucks that "never see the pavement" because their impression is that you're wheeling them hard. But that's ridiculous.

So OP, how are they holding up? Do you know if they have good travel? Any leaks? Shafts alright?
