I think they do know. I think a lot of the dealers know. I just think not enough people are complaining. They might be embarrassed they paid 2k + for something that doesn’t work.

Once you cracked it loose, is it much easier to rotate now?

It’s stiff but turns like the rest. That initial crack is something. But afterwards it notches like it’s supposed to.

I also have Japanese soft jaw pliers.

    Similar to this item https://whitlampaint.com/product/soft-jaw-pliers/

I have a hard time with my hands, so little things like that help.

Note to self: do I REALLY need remote reservoirs with damping adjustment knobs, or would a large shock body suffice?

I like to go fast on dirt trails and utility roads. I also enjoy Speeding through my friends farm land with my night vision on. When the weekend is over I adjust them back to a nice balanced street tune.

I agree shock bodies and dampening adjustors are completely different things. Admittedly, I'm new to four-wheel off road, but I have decades of experience with MX and Enduro suspension for two wheels. On a motorcycle, the whole idea of suspension is to keep tires on the ground. Given the terrain, speeds involved, and light weight of the bike, the tuning is often fine. Sag is critical, so spring rate and preload are typically considered first. The goal is generally 30% sag to accommodate down travel, leaving 70% for up travel. We then considered shim stacks and, possibly, oil viscosity for general dampening characteristics. The fine tune of high and low speed compression and rebound adjustors, if so equipped, would happen with laps on the track/in the field. Those settings were meant to suit terrain and rider preference.

I find the general approach to suspension on TW to be much, much different. I can fully appreciate the desire for a larger shock body and accompanying components for strength and the benefit of additional oil over OEM. Broken parts and fade through hot oil and cavitation are to be avoided. On the other hand, lifts that eliminate virtually all sag are common, and remote reservoirs with various dampening adjustors are desired for purposes other than racing. Buy what makes you happy. I only chimed in because someone was having problems with delicate, complex system components that may not be necessary for the vast majority of off road activity.

Alright you guys will be the first views on this brief Tech Article about DSC adjuster knobs. Hopefully this clears up some questions on how these are assembled and can be taken apart. Post up any questions and hopefully I can help answer them for you

I had a hard time turning it too. Use gloves when you do this. I did after every few hours to muster up some energy. Once you’ve done it the first time, adjust them back and forth. It will be easy moving forward. I did order the adjuster knob from Range off-road to make it easier to adjust since it’s summer and 110 degrees outside even with gloves on.
