-What makes you think the c-clip popped off?
-I have never seen the set screws that hold the high speed knob on shear off
-Issues with rotation have been discussed in this thread, corrosion looks like a big issue
-Coil spring wont have any effect on the DSC. The DSCs are a lot easier to rotate when pulled apart vs when they are sealed up, shims in place and charged with nitrogen.

Well before you warned us not to force the DSC adjusters I used a small punch in the set screw holes to rotate the adjuster.. now they spin without stopping in either direction. Low speed still works. But the high speed damping doesn't change with adjustment of the knob.. just spins and spins haha

They are unfortunately stuck in the firmest high speed setting. My whole truck gets rattled to death on washboards now!!

Hey don't be pointing fingers at me! :p

If that high speed knob is spinning freely, definitely something going on inside. The c-clip and cross bar are holding that all together, so could be a few things wrong. Only way to find out, is to open it up. **not recommended unless you have experience and the correct tools to do so**

Only one way to get experience!
I'd be surprised if the c clip came off. Especially since the collar has that cross bar retainer too.
I agree. The only way to know for sure is to take it apart.

My biggest concern is separating the DSC assembly from the IFP body. During my rebuild the wiper seal end cap was a nightmare to take off. The galvanic corrosion practically welded that shit together. What do you recommend as a non destructive wrench to spin the IFP body and DSC apart?

This can be tough to do, we clamp the reservoir in a vice using aluminum body clamps, use a strap wrench to open it up.

I was able to mount my coilovers body to a makeshift top hat mount so I didn't have to purchase the aluminum body clamps. Doesn't look like I'm going to be able to cheap out this time. Do you have a source for aluminum clamps that won't break the bank?

I've heard of people making them out of wood, for a home made option. Just remembered actually, saw it when someone was holding some ORI's (it was Fab Rats on YT) for some new seals to go in.

    Stuff and junk and things...
I make all my shaft and body clamps, it can be expensive if outsourced.

I use a -8ORB male welded to some 1"ish tubing and thread it in and spin them off while holding the resi body.

Hey guys, I signed up for this forum to seek help with this (My apologies, I don't actually own a Tacoma but this is the only place I can find talking about this).

I have brand new 2.5 DSC shocks and like others here the HSC was impossible to move. I didn't want to wait weeks for the adjuster tool to arrive in the mail so I got out a Robogrip and a strip of 1mm rubber and went for it. On one of my shocks I was able to crack it in the correct direction and now it gets 11 clicks moveable by hand (moving it clockwise did the trick- HSC was all the way at minimum to start).

Unfortunately the other shock was the one I tried first. I began by turning the HSC knob counterclockwise. It moved a bit....then it stopped. I figured I had the right direction so tried again. It budged but felt a little give, like I may have messed something up. Now it gets 25 clicks. It does however still stop at either end. What have I done here... and what should I do?

Have you tried contacting the company you purchased from or Fox service department? I would suggest starting there.

Yeah, I'm about to contact Fox. I was hoping someone here may have a quick thought. I hope I don't have to send it back as it will cost me upwards of $500 in shipping from Canada.

If you are getting upwards of 25 clicks, I am going to assume something is wrong internally. Unfortunately it will likely require the shock to be taken apart to be fixed. My only hope is that Fox would cover this under warranty. If not, I would look for someone local that is very capable at doing extensive shock service work. Check out this article to get an idea on how these DSC adjusters function.

Thanks for your response. It does sound that way. I guess we'll see what Fox says. I should have contacted them first about where the HSC sits after it's shipped.

I’ve been on the fence about Fox 2.5 PES vs King 2.5 but seeing all these posts about issues with the adjusters is not helping me sell on Foxes. Was reading that Foxes have better seals & stainless steel shock shafts but the DSC adjusters being finicky with only couple hundred/thousand miles on them is worrisome.

Can confirm these shocks are a nightmare . Using a range helper knob a few weeks ago I got both my fronts to brake free after not adjusting them for 2 months. Went to set it back to my daily setting after going out this weekend and my driver side High speed setting is just free spinning. Its not stopping at either end of the setting . Right out the gate these high speed adjusters are awful to turn.Ive had them on 8 months.

Damn… I was talking to a nice guy named John at Accu tune, and he was saying that after a trip, these should be hosed down near the adjusters to keep them clean. Did you by chance clean yours after your outings?
