I wouldn't run that, especially on a set of Fox shocks. But its your money, if your ready to replace them, have fun with it.

I see what you're saying. I could have worded it better.. The shock travel spec would remain the same, but the other other suspension geometry will prevent the shock from fully extending thereby limiting travel.

You are putting no more stress on the shock or the mount, mounting it like this. The spring will limit compression before fucking up the shock. No, this is nothing like a spacer lift. But, you are putting excess ware on just about all your other suspension and drive shaft components. Personally I wouldn't run it like that, harsher ride, excess ware, just to fit large tires, but I have seen far far worse shit on this site suspension wise.

Yes! My reply cut off for some reason, but exactly. Your suspension travel doesn't equal the travel of the shock though. But yes, for example, I was running swayaways with specific top hats on my old truck with total chaos 3.5 kit. The top hats accounted for the shorter overall length of a swayaway coilover. When I upgraded to some fox coilovers (same stroke, an 8 inch coilover just like the swayaways), they were longer collapsed and extended than the swayaways. So the top hat needed to be shorter to account for the longer length of that coilover and I couldn't use the sway away top hat (mounting plate) or else the longer fox shock would be limited and make it bottom out and potentially cause stress to the coil bucket or frame at full bump.

The point is making sure they're mounted properly is important. Even the size of the mounting plate is important. Icon, king, fox, sway away, they all have different extended/collapsed lengths even though they are spec'd as 8 inch coilovers or whatever size you're getting.

So now we have a real consensus that this installation generally sucks and was installed wrong, which is why I posted in the first place...glad I did, and thanks again to the fine folks here for chiming in. Tomorrow I go back and demand that it be done correctly, end of story. Looking back, there's only a few places to go in this small town... Granted, I asked for an unusal odd size tire 305/70/17' , but thing is, I've seen it done with 34's and 35's... Cutting is no problem for me... So I stroll into my local "4x4 Truck Center" and tells the shop owner I want this... whatever it is... Instead of getting 1st class advice, 1st time do it right advice...All I'm looking for is good advice, if it 34's then effing tell me what the best (proper) solution is to accomodate 34's, instead of putting my suspension and warranty in jeopardy... the only good news is all took place in the last two days, so this installation is only a few days old...no real damage done..

Update 8/29/17: As it turns out, I conferred with a few more reliable sources and determined the inverted install is not detrimental ... after 3k miles of driving, the ride is great and there is no apparent issues...the most off road I go are just a few gnarly dirt roads so I'm totally ok with the inverted install, especially when the alternative would be 2-3k for a 6" lift cutting cross members etc. etc.

You'll be fine, no harm no foul. It'll be installed the right way and you'll be on your way!
