@Devinm how do you mean "jacked up a resi". Just curious? The resi can be rotated slightly to remedy some small complaints people have had like decal not facing out ward or the resi facing towards the front and needed towards the rear. Do you have any pics of the issue to maybe help someone better understand. On the adjustment question its basically all driver opinion on that and there probably isn't a magic adjustment for on and off road, hence why they are adjustable so you can quickly change from highway driving to rough off road with just a few clicks. It would be hard to answer that question so if you feel its to hard/stiff driving add a few more clicks and give it another go until your happy

The one on the left should look like the one on the right. The fitting coming out of the main body should be facing 180° the other direction.

So you had it already torn down when you found it? That would really suck the happiness out of that install. Glad to hear that got you fixed up. These fox shocks are night and day better over factory aren't they? I have played with mine a little just to get it where I want and after a few drives my friends want to upgrade their rides to the fox because they said their trucks feels like bricks in comparison .

I'm not ganna lie...I definitely started to panic. Haha. So far I'm happy with them but still need to figure out my wheel and tire situation.

Looking back at this thread, I saw you posted pictures of yours. Just curious, what the measurement of threads you have showing or thread count on the left and right front?

Did you use your SPCs to adjust caster and any issues with rubbing? Did you CMC?

I can imagine because I would be the same way lol. On the thread count you could probably see where mine is set from my media I have posted on my account but it is about 1 3/4 " on driver side and only slightly less on passenger side to accommodate the all to known taco lean. From top hat to bottom eyelet its about 21" when sitting on the ground. I did use the spc to get the fitment perfect as well as alignement (seeing as they can do camber and caster)and based on the sheet they come with they are spot on with everything they say, like setting caster on the lower arms fully forward and fine tuning using the spc.I did not do a cab mount chop but did use a heat gun to press the factory mudflaps in a bit for better clearance during full articulation. I also decided to trim the air dam because it hit/touched the tire (while turning)slightly when at stock length and with it removed the front bar was visible and I didn't like it. So for trimming it was the air damn about in half and a heat gun for the mud flaps. Otherwise everything is great and no rubbing with my FN wheels on 285-70R17 aka dirty 3s . These shocks are amazing once fine tuned and I have zero regrets, plus weight reduction based on the wallet :fistbump:. What is your wheel and tire setup as of now and what issues are you running into if any?

Almost done, just need to get a spring compressor and then that’s all. Let me tell you, not a walk in the park, but totally worth it just to learn about the internals and how they’re put together. A little before and after.

But one question, silver or black springs?

Whats up guys? had a quick question. I just recieved my front 2.5 Fox RR coilovers from @AccuTune Offroad. Still waiting on the rear shocks with RR's. But I was wondering if I could somehow adjust the preload for a 2"- 2.5" lift before I install them on the truck? NOTE: I did have them use the eibach 650lb springs for possible added weight in the future and to possibly prevent sag.
Id rather not have to take them off and put them back on multiple times to nail my desired ride height. I understand that my goal is to reach 21" total coilover length (tophat to bottom of shock). But Im assuming ill have to adjust them quite a bit based on how I recieved them from @AccuTune Offroad. @1TACOTONY you said about 1 3/4 on both sides? Tells me ill need to adjust this passenger down quite a bit. But may be not because of the 650lb springs??

Also, @1TACOTONY. In reference to another post. Im running BFG KO2s 285/75/r16's currently on stock ride height with minimal trimming like you did. (Air dam, etc) I used TRD Pro 4 runner rims with a -13 mm offset I believe.

Not sure about your springs but,
Find yourself a mom and pop mechanic shop that has a spring compressor that won't charge you to use. Don't bother with renting one from Auto Zone. It's pretty sketchy.
Call those little hole in the wall shops.

I also don't have any issues with adjusting the preload while still on the truck jacked up. On the driver side I'm at 1 3/4" of threads and on the passenger side 1 9/16". Im still sitting 1/8" higher on the passenger side.

    Are you installing yourself?

Yea, I was gonna install myself. The 650lb springs are already installed on coilover setup from accutune. Do you have 600lb springs or 650?
So you had no problem adjusting the preload while the coilovers are still installed? I read that remote resevoirs get in the way of the spanner wrench.

    I have 600lbs.
I bought a punch set from harbor freight and used the 5/16" punch with an extension pipe I had laying around. On the driver side I ran into an issue with the preload ring not turning after a half turn. I took it off and started calling all the shops in the area and got lucky with a spring compressor. I adjusted it some and installed it back on and had no issues making additional adjustments.

The spanner wrench is worthless. We turned the ring by hand when the spring was compressed.

Make sure the set screw is exposed before installing.

Bummer, I bought the spanner wrench. thing is way overpriced. Was hoping to not have to get a spring compressor or take it somewhere other than the alignment shop, but we'll see. Thanks

You won't have to remove those to adjust. Just make sure that the Allen set screw is facing outward when you install them and you can just jack up the truck and loosen the set screw slightly( just barely, too much and you will have issues) and adjust the collar to adjust:thumbsup:. Mine are the stock 600# so maybe a lil less than me because you got the heavier springs which was smart in my eyes. Make sure to take prior measurements to compare your new height to and I would say set it about 1.25 to 1.5 down the collar and then install them and see where that gets you. If I had to guess it would be around 2.25 to 2.5 inches of lift with that.. but either way these shocks rock for adjusting so if you don't like it or its not right just jack er up and loosen that set screw and crank the collar again. how high of a lift are you going for front and rear? are you looking for level look front and rear? I'm excited for you because it's such a great investment your going to love the ride:fistbump:

Haha yea, quite the investment thats for sure. Im just looking for 2 to 2.5 inches. Ill see how much lift I get when the shocks are at the recomended 21". And hoping for a little bit of rake. I went with Fox Tundra 2.5 shocks for the rear, paired with Icon RXT leafsprings.

Gotta love this site for that..see the pics and say :spending:. All the mods make the truck all that much better. 21" is while installed if I'm not mistaken because it will show you how the shock is with the weight of the truck on them bad boys. Since you got the 2.5 in the rear what are your plans for the resi out of curiosity. Im ready to see some pics of this beast all finished up:bananadance:....just looked back and was wondering if you picked yourself up some new upper control arms as well? If so what ones did you go with?

Yea, ill be sure to post some pics up after. Havent thought about the rear resivoirs much yet, but hoping they come with some kind of mounting instructions.
I decided to go with the SPC UCAs for the adjustment features. Considered total chaos or icons delta joint. But taco twonz and the guys at Filthy motorsports seemed to really like the SPCs.

You can certainly ask others what they have for preload to get a 2.5" lift, but at the end of the day they do not have your truck. When we do installs here in the shop, we install the coilovers as is, see where the shock lengths sit, then make adjustments from there. This is the best way to set preload for your specific truck. Making guesses based on what others have done can lead to more adjustments than you originally wanted, and potentially have you scarring up the preload nuts from all the adjustments. Yes, we highly recommend a proper spring compressor, but yes people have done it without one. It's up to you and your mechanical skills.

Rear 2.5 shocks will look something like this, and will come with reservoir mounts:

I went with the SPC for that exact reason. All of the other options did not offer as much adjustability and have heard some mixed reviews but with SPC I can personally say they are great. They offer both camber and caster adjustments and the instructions are great. That upper control arm bolt is a bit of a b word if you dont want to bend your inner fender to remove it,which im not a fan of so i opted to cut my old bolt and replace it from the opposite direction with loctite and a thread punch to make sure it never backs out(doubt it would but better safe than sorry). As @AccuTune Offroad stated I was only giving you my results on my truck and a base line starting point to try. When you adjust the coils I would get a 5/16 punch (I went to auto value and bought a whole set that had the right size for like maybe 15 bucks)and it fits perfectly and won't wollow out or damage the holes(where as I hear the spanner wrench is about useless). Mine went pretty easy as I did them while new and didn't do any mudding or anything prior to adjusting.

@AccuTune Offroad I noticed you have superbumps with the ubolt flip kit in the picture and had a couple questions. The bolts seem a little long from the angle of the picture it looks like under heavy/hard hitting compression they could hit. Do they not compress enough for contact or is it just the angle? What made you choose superbumps over other companies like timbren or durobumps out of curiosity. The other question is does the resi hose have any issues with the frame bump stop mount contacting it and over time rubbing through? Also you guys are awesome for being so ready and helpful to all of us here on tacomaworld(nothing but useful info and guidance with pics:thumbsup:)so props to you for sure :fistbump: keep kicking ass
