Ok well I have resisted for days asking this.. I have seen some info on this topic but I hoping for some people with personal experience or pro opinion

. I am installing icon RXT leafs option 2 or 3 with 4.25" durabumps flip kit and archive hammer hangers... If I run a decent load weighted with camp gear am I going potentially bottom out a 985-26-118? Fox 2.0 (15.2 collapsed) 9.6 stroke.

The 985-26-117 ( 14.7 ) collapsed is the safer option I know but..

The durobump say they are good for +2" collapsed length shocks.. seems like it's right on the edge.. I have read so much through this thread. I know accutune says "up travel is my friend".. am I answering my own question is the 117 the way to go or am I paranoid and the 118 is fine?

    Thanks y'all

Unfortunately there is no kit for this, just part numbers for all the individual pieces. If you want to order them, just give us a call or shoot me a PM and I can get an estimate emailed over

I installed some fox 2.5 performance elite shocks the other day and realized one of the set screws to adjust the collar is facing in (it was getting dark) but it came like that from accutune/fox is there any way to turn it that doesn't require pulling the whole shock? I have an alignment Thursday and was hoping to adjust them up about 1/2" and don't think I will have time to pull and re-re

It happened to me too but I was able to fit an Allen key back in there and loosen the screw enough to turn the collar. It’s a tight fit but can be done.
Soaking the threads in T-9, using two steel rods with the truck jacked up and taking my time worked for me.
Read this thread and decide for yourself which “risk” you want to assume. If you decide to go this route, don’t turn the set screw too much.

The PES shocks have an aluminum shock body and its not recommended to adjust the pre load of the coilovers on the truck. The springs need to be compressed with a proper spring compressor.

x2 and thats the case for any adjustable coilover to be honest. If you were to accidentally skip threads and get the collar a bit screwed up or damage that at all, replacing the collar is going to be a major PITA and $.

Ok well that sucks... how do you know how much to adjust them off the truck then? Say I add my hybrid bumper and winch in a few weeks and have to go up 3/4" roughly how many turns do I need to crank them down? I don't have a spring compressor or know how to use one..even minor adjustments need to be done off the truck to even it out?

Yes, it's a pain in the ass but a necessary one. I bought some long pry bars specifically to adjust them on the truck and I could tell I was going to damage something. I think each of my front shocks have been off 3x to get my adjustments very close.

We are always going to recommend the correct way to do things, no shortcuts. Thats a risk we don't want to be connected to, but feel free to do what you would like. Preload adjustments are close to being a 1:2 ratio from adding preload to lift height. Example: add .5" of preload, you gain about 1" of lift at the wheel. There is not really a perfect formula for getting an exact amount of lift height, especially since driver/passenger side will get different amounts of preload.

I don't really way to risk it if this group says its going to damage something buy adjusting them on the truck, I don't need perfect but a rough guide for how much to turn them is better than taking them on and off multiple times on my sloped driveway here thanks

These will work on the truck most of the time. It’s a tight fit, but is definitely easier to adjust your preload. A few of us split the cost and pass them around when needed. https://www.amazon.com/Specialty-Products-40260-Universal-Compressor/dp/B0039K4AJA?hvadid=309898128610&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16848796505747331772&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9032108&hvtargid=pla-570659120805

Had a local shop, Stellar Built, make a rear shock mount for my new Fox shocks.
This will keep the lower mount above the bottom of the axle tubes.
Added Fox bumps too and a Dana 60* with StopTech brakes that have the parking brake and retains abs.

My rule of thumb from experience. You can loosen it but you can’t tighten it. I tightened 1 rotation and the steel spring took a bit off the collar (not the shock body). Overall no problem but would rather not have done that. Basically where the spring ends it comes to a point sort of and that’s steel on aluminum. If you loosen it it drags the direction that doesn’t cut into the collar. But you're taking your own risk
