Not sure if this video has already been posted, but very great rebuild video by Wheel Every Weekend. I'm planning to get my Fox coilovers rebuilt by them in the next month.

Looks good. You're now another member of the Accutune family. I Accutune'd w/ FOX 2.5 DSCs on all 4 corners a few weeks ago, DIY on the install, happy with it so far. Sent lots of photos of my install to Accutune & they head-nodded & said it looked good. Excellent, detailed customer service via email w/ them.

Note, in your first photo, the remote reservoir (RR) -- see the clearance between the red (small) DSC knob and the sway bar? The yellow arrow in my annotation below. There's not a lot of room there. The RR should be slid up as high as it's possible to go in its mounting brackets to reduce the chances of the sway bar coming up & smacking the red DSC adjuster knob. This has been known to happen & it can break the DSC adjuster mechanism. I see close to a full 1" of space between the top schrader filler cap on the RR & the top inside of the wheel well. (The blue circled area in my annotation.) Might want to close that gap to just 1/8" or so to maximize the clearance between the busy sway bar & the DSC knob at bottom.

Just edited my post & added illustration, reload page & scroll up

Be super-careful w/ the screws in those remote reservoir brackets, they are easy to cross-thread & snap, ask me how I know. IMO those RR brackets look flashy and slick but the old style worm-screw clamps are a lot easier to work with.

Wish I would have watched this video

    https://youtube.com/watch?v=sJEkSmewcQE&feature=shareb

by Overland Outfitters before buying my fox 2.5s. Are they really that bad? I decided on the foxes because of all the reviews of performance and durability such as shafts not rusti g as easily. I didn’t go with kings because of rusting and oil leaking, which they did in this comparison video. Any thoughts

Which FOX 2.5's did you buy? Factory Race? Performance Elite?

TL;DR the FOXes they tested were non-DSC (no adjusters,) straight from the factory w/ stock valving. FOX reached out to the video makers & explained why that particular set of shocks gave them a rough ride. Obviously it wasn't a quality or design issue with the FOXes as the 2.5s of any ilk are a beefy shock. The issue was tuning/valving, & this shouldn't reflect poorly on the name "FOX" as a brand.

My personal experience: I went from a bombed-out, floppy, overloaded 2nd gen Taco TRD OR stock suspension to FOX Perf. Elite 2.5's w/DSCs on all 4 corners, about 1.5" lift front and 2.5" lift rear, with Deaver U402 (stage III) leafs, and am quite satisfied so far. DSC is an absolute must in my opinion for a daily-driver on-road vehicle that occasionally does some dirt roads & fire trails. If I didn't have DSC to let me dial down the massive damping capability of these shocks for on-road use I'd be quite unhappy.

The test subjects in the video are 2.5 non adjustable models with stock tune. So it you're happy with your purchase and how your truck rides then that's all that matters.

Yeah I got the race series DSC and I AM happy with them, but the video made it seem like I was missing out on something better that’s all. I also got a unbeatable deal on them as well from Wheeler Off Road. At least I know their build quality is top notch

If you start second guessing your decision based on a youtube video, it can be a never ending rabbit hole. I'm guilty of doing this myself, but thats part of the research process I suppose.

If you have Fox 2.5 shocks on your Tacoma, I would not be concerned, you made a good choice. If the day comes where you think the ride quality needs improvement, let us know and we can revalve them for you and get a much better ride. This will make a big improvement and be a lot cheaper than replacing the shocks entirely.

That looks great! What offset did you go with on your wheels?

Tell me about those fender flares!

Thanks! They’re -20. And the flares are wrapped in a multicam style wrap

That video almost made me buy something other than Fox 2.5’s. Almost. But I am so glad the shop I work with was adamant about these being the best in that bracket and he himself was moving from King’s to Fox. I got the Factory Race Series 2.5’s with DSC & Resi’s all around and could literally not be happier. It is an insane upgrade both on the streets, and off the road. Ran a desert road yesterday and it just ate the washboards up completely. I’ve done some rock crawling and crazy Arizona trail and am blown away.

Just one man’s thoughts based on my personal experience.

    Cheers!

I agree! No regrets here. Again just thought I missed something during my research. Just changed my springs to 14” 650 lbs so I could get rid of a lot of preload on the 13” 600 lbs and it rides even better

Hey guys and gals. I am looking at lifting the truck, found a pair of new fox 2.5x14 Coilovers on marketplace without the springs for 800$. Part number FOX-983-02-105. I want roughly 2” of lift without too much pre load. what are my options as far as springs go? Will I need any other hardware or just the springs? Also I see that some vendors use this part number for the rear shocks, why is this? Appreciate the info

You’re probably going to need a 3 link or 4 link kit and a solid axle to make those work.
