I definitely want to leave a little space to not risk bottoming shock, thinking 1/2" or so which means I would ideally like my bump stop to completely compress an inch later than it is. Might try playing with different bump stops that aren't quite as big as superbumps, also thought about Archive Garage's new ubolt flip and keeping the super bumps which would gain me about 5/8" more bump travel.

I wish there was a way to adjust ride height without stiffening spring rate.

After really digging into things, I wonder if it would be possible to adapt this shock to fit a tacoma rear:
    https://accutuneoffroad.com/product...internal-bypass-jeep-jk-front-2-5-4-lift-dsc/
As my truck sits now I think I could definitely fit this collapsed length... Internal bypass, 2.5, adjusters, 10" travel...
    • Product Size: 2.5 BYPASS SHOCKS
    • Product Extended Length: 25.970
    • Product Collapsed Length: 15.610
    • Product Travel: 10.360

I’ll take a few pics tomorrow with tape measure to give you a reference.. wheelers flip kit and superbumps.. i think it gives me 1” of bump travel. The bumps sit 1” higher than factory.. at least that’s what wheelers told me.. 9B375A7F-2BA8-4A76-B07B-FA006157D19A.jpg

And another thing to consider: if you want to increase height without increasing spring rate Archive Garage hammer hangers will give you a bit more height without changing rate.

Oh boy.. things are getting real.. you could also relocate the rear towers and get even more travel i think it’s somewhere between 13”-14”

I’m sitting on pretty level ground on option 2 unloaded. But it looks like I’ll have about 3.5” of travel before i reach my bumps.. and an additional 1.5” on them.. they are supposed to compress and be cushy.. we shall see

Another option is airbag suspension kit that replaces the bumpstop. The owner from filthymotorsports had recommended this as an option. The inflatable airbag/bumpstop attaches over the leaf spring where the bumpstop would be located and you can inflate it during heavy loads to prevent bottoming out of the shock and deflate it when the load in the bed is minimal. As I understand it, it can be hard to find a shock/bumpstop combo that works well during both heavy and light loads since the spring rate/shock mechanics are very dependent on weight. Below is a picture

I have thought about air bags, however I have heard they aren’t great for serious off-roading. Also, I am usually only adding around 300 lbs of camping gear and bikes so it seems like I should be able to find a good compromise between that weight and empty weight. My goal, after talking with Ryan at Accutune is to dial in the bump travel and then possibly revalve the rear shocks so they are a bit firmer. I would love to have some sort of bypass shock like the new King 3.0’s or Bilstein 8100’s but Fox doesn’t seem to have an option that competes. I also don’t want to do anything irreversible like welding on new shock mounts.

Any air bag that is fixed to both the axle and frame will ruin your ride quality. They don't like to extend or compress, even when empty.

ive offroaded mine for almost the life of the truck with daystar cradles/firestone bags so they free float, i air them down when i need the full range of travel. pretty much an adjustable bump stop

Nice setup, what leaf springs are you running? How does the truck handle off road with the airbags inflated and a moderate load?

Just got my trucks suspension all settled. FOX LIFE! Could not be happier with how it looks and rides. Rear is a bit stiff as expected but over the ride is buttery smooth.
