Fox Life!!! Anything Related to Fox Suspension

Supposed to equal 2" on 3rd gen and 3" on 2nd gen. on trucks with no armor/extra weight.

 

Taking shipment this morning. Any pro tips for dialing in DSC? I come from the mountain bike world so I understand the basics.

That 1.9" of thread showing will not net a 3rd gen very much lift or any.
I'm at 2.9" of threads showing and it rides 100% perfect. Though I haven't tried to max out my suspension yet either.
On a 3rd gen when you get the AAL and leave the overload in, you need to crank these foxes up plenty to level it out. 2.9" of threads is where you'll be. No way a round it but buying taller springs. Would be nice if fox sold that particular application. Swapping out equipment on new coilovers just doesn't compute with me.

You said you & others got different info. from Fox. What info.did Fox give or tell you?
Do you have any armor?
How much down travel do you have w/it cranked to 2.9? (I'm guessing ~1")
Do you get coil bind?
Do you ever bottom out the shock?
I'd like to lift mine a little to get closer to level but I'm @ their max recommended height (1.925" exposed threads) & don't want to screw them up.
You say you had to crank them that high to get it level. What if you put taller springs on the rear, would you keep cranking it to get level?
Did Fox tell you to crank it as high as you need to to make it level with your rear lift, regardless of how tall your rear lift is?

@MolonLabeTaco are you talking about wheel travel or shock travel when you say it’s probably around 1” of downtravel?
Also curious if @Broheim has any added weight, and how the CV boots look at that setting

 

The Fox ext. travel 2.5 C/O's have a max travel of just less than 5". If it's cranked down that hard, a bunch on the travel is used up at resting/ride height, I'd assume. So if you hit a whoop, even on the highway, I'd think the front would bang as the truck tops out going upwards due to there being no more travel left in the suspension (not enough droop/down travel of the shock/wheel).
Does that make sense?

Fox stated that we were at max lift on those coilovers and said it would be fine w/o issue. I have no armor or weight on the truck at all. It is completely stock except the suspension. There is absolutely no bind and the cv's look perfect. I run these every day and purposely hit speedbumps among other things to test the front coilovers. Like butter.
I would not go any higher on the front or rear. I do think i am at max lift though. Like i said, working perfect.

 

How much lift do you have with 2.9" of threads showing??

 

I'm at 23.5" hub to fender. Truck is 100% level.

 

So I just parked next to a completely stock 2nd and did some measurements. I got 20 inches from the front hub to the fender on the stock Tacoma. My Tacoma was 23” inches from center hub to the fender. And this is with the Fox 2.5 extended coilovers right out the box. I have like 2 inches of thread on my shocks from the factory.

 

That sounds like it worked out exactly as Fox described to me. I wonder why some get 3" (2nd gen) or 2" (3rd gen) then some get just 1" or almost no lift? Weird.

Lovin my rear Fox shocks on the 1st Gen! Went Kings up front but these Foxs have meant all the difference in the rear after having Billys back there, King 1st Gen rears are like unicorns. (Rock guards for bonus points )

Looks great. I'm looking at going with the same shock setup. How do you like the Fox's? Are you running the 2.0 or the 2.5 in the rear?

This might seem like a stupid question to most of you since your all looking for more lift but if I get the standard length Fox 2.5 or 2.0's can I lower it a bit if I get too much lift. I'm only looking for around an inch or less so I don't have to lift the rear and am concerned I will get too much lift on my 15 DCOR.

 

I only wanted more lift to stuff the 295/70/17 tires under it.
I would think if you doing the coilovers in standard length they will probably end up leveling you out . If not dial it down.

 

The standard travel version should come set around 2” of lift for your second gen. You can move the collar up and have no lift if you choose. They are adjustable from 0-2” of lift. So you can adjust them to match the rear or even slightly lower for some rake, unless you never use the bed of the truck.

 

Stepped up my drop bracket game today.

 

Peeps will say that is a lot of "preload". Looks normal to me on a set of foxes. My threads are just like that and my truck rides dreamy. Ive even seen ford f150's with fox set ups and theirs are just as jacked up.
