Got my FOX 2.0s for the rear of my 99' from wheelers offroad.

First off, they are different lengths. One is about 3/4" longer then the other. So my question is which shock goes on what side. Most directions came stating and the shocks don't say either. My current shocks are both the same length so I don't have anything to go by.

Secondly, one shock came with metal bushings while the other didn't. Why is that?

Lastly, I mocked one up last night for shits and giggles and was pretty disappointed to see that the mounting hole/bushing on the fox shocks are WAY smaller and will not fit. I didn't get any other inserts or bushings.

You can't return shocks, these are for a 99' Tacoma which I have and specified. The part numbers do match up. I'm pretty bummed at this point, not real sure what to do, or I can do. $260 in shocks sitting in a box ain't doing me any bit of good.

I've never ran Fox's but my rear 5100's came in two different lengths as well. Two different part numbers. I don't remember which is which off the top of my head but I do know there is a difference in length from one side to the other.

Still can't put them on with the mounting bushing holes being so small, thats what is really bugging me. So the longer shock would go on the driver side since that side sits lower than? I don't have leaf packs yet, they won't be for about 2 months. I just wanted to put these on since it should only take 15 minutes to undo and do 4 bolts.

I had a mechanic friend come over and look at them, he said no way they are fitting in those eyelid bushings. The holes on the fox shocks are like half the size they need to be. The one with the metal bushing is a good 1/2" to small.

Pass side is longer on 1st gens. You may need to have new bushings pressed in to make them fit cause we have 18mm diameter mounting pegs. Wheelers sells the right bushings.

Well between fox and wheelers someone somewhere screwed something up. I can't get a straight answer from anyone, thats why I posted on here. If you dont have anything helpful you can gladly move on...I've already contacted wheelers and the guy never not once said anything about having the right bushings for my truck. This hasn't been the greatest experience buying or customer service/satisfaction to say the least, little frustrating when you buy simple shocks that should "bolt on" none the less and have all these problems. Still don't know which shock goes where. Yes I know the driver side sits lower and passenger sits higher, still doesn't tell me which of the 2 shocks goes where!!

    Metal bushing gets removed.

Its tight but it should fit. I used grease and pushed on shock with my foot to get my 5125s on.

I got a can of silicone spray. My mechanic friend said the other end shock with metal bushings, those do need taken out. But why did one come with them and the other not. Never got a straight answer there.

Even with the silicone spray, no way those are fitting. My friend suggested maybe drilling out the bushing hole. About the only option I have to make use of them now.

I just don't like the idea of fibbing shocks and drilling through plastic bushings, seems it would take some of the strength and proper fitting away.

Like I said, this has been a headache if an experience.

Every vehicle is different. Its not uncommon to have to add or remove sleeves, drill holes, gap plugs, weld, etc to make parts work.

All a part of the installation process.

Dude people have supplied answers for you left and right, take a step back and take a deep breathe. Look at your shocks, then look at your truck.

Now read the whole thread again and the answers are there, no need to get upset when people are trying to help.

Ok I figured out what shock goes where. The longer one goes on passenger side. That actually makes sense after the 20th time I read the description, the left shock is shorter so it must go on driver, and right shock is longer so it goes on passenger.

So I guess I'll call wheelers Monday and see about new bushings because I really don't see those going on, and I don't think I should have to drill them out, that's kinda BS I think.

I'll have to snap a pic of these small bushing holes on these shocks versus the bolt that suppose to go in and you guys tell me if it's going to fit. Like putting a square peg in a circle to me.

    Anyways, thanks for the help!

So it turns out I'm not as completely dumb as I look. They are indeed the wrong size bushings. They were suppose to come with 3/4" and the ones I have measure 1/2" and 5/8" Wheelers is checking with FOX so hopefully between the 2 of them I'll get the right size bushings this time around!
