One thing you forgot on longevity is fuel injection over carbs, this avoided the fuel wash down on cold engines and eventual dilution of the oil. I think they MOPAR engines were a bit ahead of their times with hardened valve seats and forged cranks on all engines long before GM and FOMOCO.

    Sounds like the TV commercials....

Do yourself a favor and open up Fram filter up and see what your paying for. Or just Google it for plenty of video's showing the insides and then you make the decision.

It's not going to kill your engine, but IMO you can do better with almost any other filter, including the cheap Walmart one.

If Fram filters are soooo good, why can't they get any contracts to supply them for ANY automaker? Think about it.......

Note: I do not work for or endorse any type of oil filter. Use Fram filters at your own risk.

Hate to tell you this but there are a lot of Fram filters in the OEM market Honda is the first that comes to mind. Honda's seem to hold together OK. Their biggest selling market is aftermarket. I'm not a filter junky I will buy most any filter it all depends on where I am when I buy oil but bashing a product with no documented facts is BS. "I put a Fram filter on my truck and 10 miles later it blew up" (never mind it had a rod knock before the oil was changed). There is absolutely no sense losing sleep over an oil filter they all do what they were designed to do otherwise they would have long been out of business.

I don't think the Whipper is going to reply to you. But if he did it would be along the lines of derp.

I used fram a alot in the past. I always thought it was a quality filter. I guess I fell for the isles being packed with orange boxes. Now I just use oem because I can but a box of 10 for $40 and I don't ever have to worry about some tool bag switching filters in the box with a cheaper or wrong filter because they wanted to save a dollar or two.

The first exploding filters I ever saw were AC Delco back in the 60's guess what it was from exactly the same thing that happened to the exploding Fram excessive oil pressure. The guy sure did mash that filter when he took it apart you may want to have a look at the oil not only was it black it was full of sludge. The MB filter was damaged when it was installed it was not seated in the bottom before they tightened the cap I have seen exactly the same thing with a Mann filter and on VW TDI's also. Oil filters do not produce sludge engines do, no wonder his oil pressure sucked the filter was trapping the junk the engine was producing the owner should try changing his oil a little more often. Sorry nothing conclusive there. Try and see if you can find any class action cases if they were all that bad they will be out there.

But its so easy to to a poorly maintained engine, change the oil and filter and blame either the new oil or filter for anything.

I don't think there is anything wrong with fram filters and would hesitate to use one. Are there better filters? Yup. But I dont think fram is as shitty as k & n products.

    Alot = honda?

Note: Google search shows that Honda users multiple companies in multiple countries. If you find a Honda filter made in Japan, that is NOT a Fram filter. Find a Honda filter made in KOREA, you have a Fram. Who know, maybe Honda used Fram on its low end cars.

Fram does not make all Honda oil filters...... Google is your friend.

But if you like using an oil filter with a cardboard pressure valve, go for it!.

It'a america and you have a choice.

I use only Purolator PureOne spin-ons for the Taco. But the wife's RAV4 has the AR 2.5L, which uses a cartridge filter. I've been using the Fram Extra Guard #HC9972 for several OC's with no issues. But I will say that a cartridge filter is very different from the traditional spin-on. The element is wide open for all to see. I've seen no problems, no collaping and the 2 o-rings are of good quality. They're not expensive and are readily available at Meijer....that's the main reason I use them.

That said...with the spin-ons? I'll stick with my PureOne. ;)

Yep. The Toyota filters for our trucks are made by Denso (it says so right on the canister). Interestingly, the Denso-branded aftermarket filters have a different construction:

Honda filters A01 = Filtech, A02 = Fram pretty simple.

Fram's parent company is Honeywell they are often branded as such in an OEM situation such as Subaru who's filters are Honeywell Canada. Fram shows up in the Acura's I don't believe that to be a "low end car" Fram is the number one aftermarket filter this of course means that any bozo that decides to change their own oil most likely is using a Fram filter that leaves a lot of room for stupid things to happen. WalMart has the cheapest oil I have found any where I can buy oil there for a lot less than I can from NAPA even with my commercial account I grab the oil and often a Fram filter how many 10's of thousands of people do you think do the same thing?
