Here in Nevada, the guy who caused the accident is responsible,so it would of been the Ford driver all his own.

Right. But it won’t count against you if you have uninsured/underinsured coverage. Otherwise they will pay it out but count against you as a claim... at least around here.

Breh if it's totaled then you get a new truck and can keep this old one with small deductible.

This almost happen to me but I saw it coming in rear view mirror and swerved off into the carpool lane RIGHT as the car behind me got straight up slammed (all I saw was plastic shoot up 30ft high like a grenade), no joke the car behind me 'nudged' my bumper forward as I drove off when he was slammed. I've got a very small little scrape on side of my bumper from it. There is no doubt in my mind he would have slammed into my truck if I hadn't driven off into the carpool lane right before it happened. Dodged a bullet honestly was shook for hours after

Actually took a screen shot of traffic shorty after I made it to work. It wasn't just a tiny little fender-bender either. Co-workers were tellin' me there were 4 or 5 cars stopped on the side of the road or in the road. Can see the google maps Accident notifier north of the screen shot (traffic heading north 101)

These taco frames are shit. Thank goodness you weren’t where the GMC was.

Sorry if that seemed insensitive to your loss, but was trying to add some levity. We are all glad you are alright, and we all feel bad about your truck.

My comment was intended as a joking response to the "Ford messed the GM" up post.

A stronger frame means the occupant absorbs the energy rather than the frame. Give me safety as a top priority, I'll gladly purchase a new truck.

    I prefer my 94 F 350 frame.

I had a similar accident, but maybe a bit more damage than you in the year.. i was hit and pushed into the car in front of me. The person who hit me is taking full liability of my truck and the VW he pushed me into.

I had frame damage and it was replaced with a "used" frame because a new from from Toyota is 3+ months wait. The used frame has to match make, model, year and equal or less mileage so they found one that matched my truck except it only that about 800 miles on it. The truck I got the frame from wasn't involved in an accident, it was vandalized and most of the interior was stripped including air bags so it was totaled as a result.

I was $2,300 shy of having it totaled, but insurance would not budge. I'm kind of indifferent as 2/3 of my truck was replaced as opposed to needing a lot of body repair and paint was very minimal.

even better, it's a lease.. 1 year left of it. I waaaaaaaaaaaas going to keep it, but I'll probably jump into a 2020 now

Wow. Glad you are okay, but I think that frame is tweaked a bit too much as well, I know it’s up to insurance, but I wouldn’t want it repaired. One thing I’ve learned in life is, metal only bends once before losing rigid worthiness.

USAA was a tick away from totaling out my truck. But I suspect because of entire passenger side suspension and mechanical having to be replaced.

I’m curious on what my diminished value is going to be since USAA is apparently very secretive on their formula

    They have crash reconstruction experts.

Typically one of the police officers or someone accompanying them will come by to a recreate. They look at skid marks and how far cars have moved to determine speeds and distances. It's actually incredible what they can do.

Typically all major accidents will have someone recreate it for liability, especially if there is anyone injured in the crash or a fatality.

When I got into my major accident someone came out with the cops right away to recreate the crash. Tow truck wasn't allowed to move the vehicle until the guy was done with his measurements. Our vehicle was the only one involved, no others.

Just and FYI, if anyone is in a crash and liability is a serious question, your insurance should be getting the reconstruction but you can always request your own copy.

If that’s the case then the driver of that GMC probably should of died. A F150 has a better crash rating than a Tacoma. How would you explain that?

My comment was based on physics.

The f150 and Tacoma aren't identical.
