FYI that bumper repair is about 1k just in parts. The rear tail is $250. If the bed side needs work, they are apparently hard to fix because of the lines. New one is $650 plus paint. If the bed side is not perfect expect $3-3500. That is EXTREMELY close to the damage on mine that I dropped off today for work. Mine did have a little bed side damage.

Also, really doubt there is frame damage. There is almost no frame back there. The bumpers are shitty and Toyota should feel bad. There was a post made a while back where someone was advising people to buy an aftermarket bumper because these are almost all plastic. I should have listened. Have one on the way now though.

That sucks! You can see exactly where the tires slid. People are just f-ing with you (I think).

You'll definitely want them to put it on a frame machine. I'd get real picky with bed alignment/ 4 wheel tire alignment. A good bodyshop should be able to get that frame better than when it was brand new, if it has any damage at all.

If he hit you hard enough to move that truck, you need the body shop to check out the frame. Frame damage doesn't equal total, but it does add a few thousand to repair bill (sigh -- maybe speaking from experience... maybe...)

The truck is on its way there now, since they didn’t open until today due to the holiday. They’re going to inspect it and give me an estimate, which is 100% covered by the other guy’s insurance company. As I said, it doesn’t look damaged to me, but I’d rather be safe. I’m also iffy about damage to frames as well.

Now I’m not sure if it moved because the front passenger tire was wedge up the the parking block, thus making it slide on impact, or if it was just the blunt force hitting the empty truck bed.

I had fairly similar damage on mine when I got hit, right side of bumper replaced, touch up paint on bedside and tailgate fixed, $2500 was the repair estimate.

I was just shit posting, I have no idea what actually happened and have no reason to not belive you lol. Good luck with the insurance claim. Make sure you have a mechanic take a look at it and inspect everything that could be damaged before your insurance decides all you need is a bumper

Dropped it off today, they’re going to get it up on the lift and go through everything sometime tomorrow. Quick question though, will they do all OEM, or are aftermarket parts on 3rd Gens made yet? I’ve never looked into it.

Junkie "fell asleep" at the wheel. Hammered my truck, parked with the parking brake on. Moved the truck 10-12 feet, box & cap hammered the back of the cab to make things, cosmetically, much worse. Roughly $15,000 (Canadian) in damage.
Her '93 Ford Escort hit square ON the rear frame horn hard enough for it to blow apart the A/C condenser, rad AND crack a hole in the block.
Worse thing to my Tacoma, it bent the rivets holding the driver's rear leaf spring hanger.(wish I had the funds for a set of Archive Garage replacements)
BUT no frame damage otherwise. These frames aren't made of hot butter like half these posters imply.
    You'll be fine.
Depending on your insurance agency, should be all OEM new replacements or satisfactory junkyard parts for a vehicle relatively new. At least up her. Seems like insurance companies in the 'States will write off for a damn fender scratch.

If it is what it looks like, there's not a lot of damage there. There are some aftermarket parts for 3rd gens already available, (the hood comes to mind) but they'll likely order OEM, or source OEM from the salvage yard.

It's been years since my last accident in Florida, but the damage was extensive and I remember a lot of the parts were sourced from salvage companies. LKQ, etc.

Dude, I took their posts as friendly jabs and not as serious. Both seemed obvious attempts at humor. Lighten up. Everything is going to work out.

I sympathize with his frustration over the truck getting hit, but honestly, the original post was a bit short on details. Until he filled in some of the blanks, it was hard to comprehend what had actually happened. Curious how old he is.

Some of his responses were a bit over the top. Hopefully, this all works out. From the pictures, I just don't think it's going to be that big of a deal. Fingers crossed it isn't.
