Oh shit; you hit something (or someone hit you) and you didn't notice any exterior damage?

Bought it like this. some how missed this when inspecting it, not sure how. Looks like the truck hit something in the past and the bumper was replaced.

It looks to be like its smashed into something on that side and laid that box beam out...
and then they pulled it back in.....and then pasted back the bumper mount.....

I would just have welding shop weld a L plate over it.....
thank god its not in the rear or further back than it is....

however if you get in a wreck like that....like it is....

too bad you didnt noticed it at purchase....that would of been a $1000 discount there....really helps to take a friend....

Not even sure how they got that back....that must of been some fancy torch work....
so the steel hardening there has been undone.....

tells you how bad ass these truck are.....takes a lot to rob em of life....

that wouldnt of been a deal killer to me....as long as I got it at the right price...

Some time way in the past....mine lost its right side lower ball joint......the evidence is there....

    If this is a 2000 it must be a 5 lug 2WD!!

I have never been up close on the 5 lug as it looks nothing like my 4x4

At one time someone did a very poor frame splice .

Trying to fix impact damage .

That square plate does not look stock either .

Any impact damage on the other side ?

How many miles have you driven the truck ?? Front tires wear very hard in a few miles?

When test driving did you notice any strange handling?

Depending on your answers i might leave things alone .

Getting into fixing this the correct way might turn into a major project. $$$$$$

    Lol I don't even own a Tacoma; that's a 6 lug for sure.

Check out the bumpstop on the LCA, and the coilover configuration, as well as the UCA.

His crossmember is pushed back and broken which sucks cause only the 'crashbar' that bolts to the front of it is easily replaceable.

With some time on your hands the best thing to do would be to chop that part off and weld new tubing in its place. Maybe reinforce it too since the Toyota frame is what...1/8" thick so not very thick at all.

That upper control arm looks tiny compared to what I have That is what confused me.

Might be the angle of the picture though .

That is not a 5lug.....they dont have coil overs unless you do the LCA plate mod....
along with the 69 camaro struts....ugh.....

Like I said....he's pretty damn lucky the rest of the frame is bad ass from there on back...
reason these trucks are so heavy.....
.....mines been up in the air this weekend held up by that cross member right behind there that is basicly the size of a 4x8.......

making too big a deal about it....L plate across the bottom...and a strap along top.....
    welding 101.....

bring it to me....and I'll do it for you....I'm pretty sure I have some suitable stock....
I'd just need a fresh bottle of oxygen to cut pieces that thick.....
.....sounds like maybe you need some tooo....

and I wouldnt mig it....I'd stick weld it....

Thankfully no Damage anywhere else, trucks only been driven 100,000 miles, though since buying it I’ve only added a couple hundred. No noticeable wear on the tire and it handles perfect. Welding some reinforcement sounds like my best option.

    Also it’s a 6 lug !

Don’t use the tow hook until that mess is fixed.
