    05 TRD SPORT....
Hi Guys, I have an 05 TRD Sport with 237k on it. I was getting so many letters fro toyota that I missed the fact that there was a deadline. Im a busy guy, with a young son and my own business. Every time I changed my oil I would look it over. It was fine.....until a few changes ago I noticed lots of rot and flaking around a factory drilled hole. Now my truck is wothless. Anyone know if I can still get it done?

Bump. I am curious what will happen to the thousands of trucks out there. Must be a class action lawsuit coming up.

How bad is the "rot" in this spot, can you post a pic? Is it only in the one spot? If so, depending on bad it really is you can probably get a shop to just weld on a steel patch on that one area, shouldn't cost you much.

I'd say no. My experience was I went in to the dealer in early March to have the frame inspection done and to get the recall springs. Inspection done and the frame was going to get sprayed. The tech asked to do the springs before they sprayed but the springs would be two weeks out due to having to order them. I said no problem call me when the springs come in. No phone call for 6 months, I forgot all about it and it appears they did too. A leaf broke in my springs so I called to get new springs and to inquire about the frame. Springs were no problem, come in tomorrow and they'll do it but they'd have to contact Toyota to figure out the frame spraying. Toyota denied the frame spraying but my dealer agreed to do it anyway due to their error. Unless your dealer screwed up somehow, I think you are out of luck for this TSB.

That's why you buy something other than a Tacoma.

Call around, visit multiple dealers and see if one will help you. Rather it be to do the swap, or maybe help towards a trade in or something.

Yeah, with 200k miles they definitely owe people something.

Bring it in tomorrow! I've heard of some dealers covering things shortly after the expiration date. Don't waste time, it doesn't hurt to ask.

Can't wait to hear the responses

This...why does everyone think the world owes them something. 200k, 11 year old used truck, most manufacturers wouldnt even offer a frame replacement, Toyota did and gave you a deadline, you ignored it, now you want them to still fix your over decade old, highly used truck free of charge. Come on dude.

Ya, because all of the frame replacements have been 200k plus trucks, right? What about the people that have 2 year old trucks with 15k? If they built them right the frame should be the last thing to go. Thats like building a house and the siding and roofing lasting longer than the foundation.

That kind of honesty isn't welcome here.

Post a pic of a rusted out frame on a 2 year old 15k truck

That's factory warranty by the way. Irregardless to a "class action claim"

That's true, if the foundation came by every month for 2 years and said "hey bro! I've got 6 days a week that you're able to handle this, let's get it done." And you blow the foundation off until he stops coming around.

I am to lazy to search that hard. But there are lots of 2009 and 2010 in the rust thread with various Mike's. 6-7 years is pretty shitty frame life. But hey, some people have higher standards.

Ya, because foundations should be shitty to start with, right? Instead if raising the bar let's lower it. Do you live in Florida?

For what? Rust happens. Dude has over 200K and is in New England. Rust happens even more. I'm surprised he just noticed it. On the personal accountability aspect, it is the OP's own fault for ignoring the multiple opportunities to bring his stuff in. It's kind of like you can bring that bucket of water to the thirsty prisoner, but you have to drown him in that bucket to make him drink. OP didn't even ask for water. OP didn't make the appointment equals OP's fault. No reasonable person would expect a vehicle to last more than 200K in New England without rust.

I wonder if ford pinto owners have this much blind devotion also?
