    hello
During my oil change I saw this:
    503CC420-901E-47D9-AB07-74A2FB8620E4.jpg

My frame was inspected two years ago and coated by the dealer. Am I hosed from qualifying for a replacement?

Not sure what the rules are after treatment.

Dealer has a record of the work performed. Why I didn’t notice it before was this time I pressed the corroded area with my thumb and it broke through. Just using my fingers I could break away frame.

2006 is the model year. Heck the frame was inspected and the rust at that area was no different than any other area on the frame. Just this time I decided to inspect this location based on what I read here!

I know with the 1st gens, having it coated extended the amount of time warranty would cover it.

Oof, I hope you have a record of the frame inspection somewhere. I think I heard the cutoff is 12 years for a frame replacement. The frame was probably pretty bad when they coated it, but for whatever reason they did it anyway. I'd definitely work hard to get a new frame though.

Good news, is the 15yr warranty extended warranty spelled out in settlement web page? My recall notice does not mention it. FYI. The frame was inspected and treated with CRC on 9 Jan 2015. “No rust” found....

So I’m pretty sure the states only get 12 yrs. But if you had been coated you must have qualified earlier. So you have 1 year from the class action suit that settled earlier this year. I’d say you are gonna get a new frame. Had to be purchased by a certain date also.

I think it’s 15 years from in service date. I had a 2000 x-tra cab that Toyota bought back from me in 2010. I know my notice said 15 years at that time.

It's pretty obvious the dealer missed something on the first look.

Take it back, they should give you a frame

Dealer agrees the hole meets the 10 mm dia .

Just waiting on corporate preapproval to start the process. Quoted me 3-4 months for frame

Claims it is safe to drive.

Looks like you win! Check to see if you need to replace any suspension stuff and buy it cheaper and have them replace for free. Also give the truck a thorough, thorough inspection before leaving the lot. If i ever get a new frame id earmark an hour to drive around the lot, check fluids, brakes, all electronics and check engine bay and underneath as best you can to look for loose connections, bolts and screws. A lot of these techs do these frames a lot but it breeds hubris and complacency. Enjoy your mostly new truck for the fall!

IT should be covered under the Warranty Enhancement Program even if previously given the eyewash treatment...

Yeah happy that Toyota man’ed up

But one thing bothers me. I sort of peeked into the inspection process while my Taco was on the lift. Not once did the Mechanic use a tool to test rust patches to see how firm or loose the base metal was along the frame. I know I have other spots that likely are bad but didn’t inspect them once the first spot broke through. Maybe that was his approach too.

The failure was found using finger pressure, not visual.

    Not whining but owners beware!

Does anyone know where i can find the frame recall info? I am trying to determine if it is only 05-11, or if it was extended to 12-15 as well. My frame is just minor surface rust, but living in the rust belt I want to make sure that i at least get it inspected and documented.
