Pulled my truck halfway out of my garage last night to reroute my engine block heater cord, since it wasn't located where I had it before the frame was replaced. When I pulled the truck out and looked on my garage floor, I had some red fluid on the floor. I have never had any leaks, oil or tranny fluid, or any fluid for that matter. In fact when they called me to tell me the status of my truck, that they were taking it apart, they said they found no leaks either. So I am a little worried. I called the dealer and they said to bring it in , so I am bringing it in today after work. I hope to god I don't all of a sudden have a tranny leak.

Is it possible they just overfilled it and it's just coming out some overflow plug or something?

I just figured that since it was fine when I took it in, I should take it back so they don't try to blame it on me.

I'll make guesses, cause that's all we can do on the internet with things like this...........

    1) It will be transmission fluid

    2) It will be from a cooling line fitting that they didn't replace properly

    3) It will be simple and of course free

they won't blame you for looking where it's coming from, but it "sounds" like transmission fluid

I'm sure it is. I could look but I'm at work, so I don't have that ability to look before I take it in.

so I took it in tonight and they said all the cooling lines, transmission lines looked fine, and the power steering fluid was full. They said there was some fluid on the skidplate and frame from when they removed the engine and transmission, and they cleaned it off. I said ok, and left. When I got home I put cardboard where the fluid was from yesterday, went out and snowblowed the driveway, and when I came back in, there was more fluid on the cardboard, so I got up under there and took this pic....

What is that, why is it leaking?

Also, I will not be paying to fix this. I had absolutely no leaks when I dropped the truck off, so I expect to get it back the same way.

thats the output shaft seal on the transmission i cant see the dealership covering this it is a wear part and probably what happened is the seal is old and when the tech removed the drive shaft it finally started leaking when it went back in on the install its a simple cheap fix good luck

Yeah, all you need to do is replace the seal. No damage done.
