Found a good deal on a 2012 DCLB with 166k miles 1-owner Maryland truck. I would drive the 5 hours to see/buy it but the pics worry me a bit. Looking to see if anybody has input.

    Thats factory

That frame looks fine to me, g2g. Get some pictures inside the c frame over by the catalytic converter, that's usually one of the rustier spots

I know your going off someone else's pictures but you need to be looking inside of the C Channel, up towards the front of the truck. This requires you to crawl up under and get your head in there.

Also, if you really want to get an accurate view of the rust you need to get under the truck when its dark and use a bright LED light, shit will just jump out at you when you do that and any rust, leaks, etc. will be plan as day to you.

it's a drainage hole so it sees a lot of moisture, also the angle of the cab mount means water, dirt, and mud tend to pool there. If you get a chance, hit it with some compressed air to blow it out, then shove a spray can in there and try to hit that corner, wire brush the outside, and then hit that with some paint as well.

This. Look inside, and especially the areas where there are multiple layers of metal sandwiched together- this traps water and heavily corrodes. I know there are several locations like this at the rear of the truck.

From the pics it looks pretty good

I think it doesn't look bad. If you do get it my frame maintenance consist of wire wheel, wire brush, Ospho rust neutralizer ,primer, Eastwood black chassis paint and then Amsoil heavy duty metal protector. Eastwood also makes an internal frame protector highly recommenced. I discovered this regime after many years of trail and error. Perpetration is 98% of the work take your time. I found fluid film washes away to easily and definitely need to prep. the frame. My .02
