First off, My name is Eric, long time listener first time caller type thing . I came here for answers that my local Yota dealership just will not answer. I have 06 taco trd sport sitting at the dealer awaiting a frame (under recall) , the assisant service manager kept throwing out the words frame and frame package. My question is for those who work at a dealer or had the your frame replaced under recall (2nd gen) what other than the frame itself was replaced and covered under this recall. Any insight on this would be great.

05-08's can get frames replaced under a corrsion extended warranty program in the northern US and Canada

OZ, I have read them without much luck on details, i have even read the whole Lsc (recall) thru mitchell or all data (cant remember which one ) at a local repair shop and basically confirmed i was getting a frame before i got the recall.

I think (don't quote me on this) they replace some plastics and rubber wear items like body mounts....i think they also replace lower control arms and some other suspension parts....but like OZ said, hopefully someone knowledgable in the matter will chime in.

    Until then...free bump :)

Frame, frame wire harness, brake lines, spare tire carrier, lower control arms, fuel lines, misc bolts and hardware, rear leaf springs, new brake and radiator fluid and an allignment. Most of the items except the frame are at the dealers discretion but will be covered by Toyota if needed. Some dealers are trying to charge for these additional items.

Just picked mine up yesterday, they replaced the frame, rear springs, lines, lower control arms, alignment, there are 3 pages of parts...and 3 other recalls...

Downside.....I had a drivetrain vibration before the recall, now I have a major vibration at 60+, the rear sits higher from the new springs, and I figure the carrier bearing needs shimmed, i'll try that today and see if it fixes it.....

Hey Oz T, not all northern US is included, Toyota's great wisdom has excluded Iowa from the inspection and preventative rust proofing. I understand that at least one frame has been replaced for an Iowa TW inmate due to the dealer's perserverence and mine was inspected as a courtesy by my dealer but they were not authorized or equipped to do the rust proofing. Since WI, just 6 miles away and IL about four miles from my dealer were included I'm left in wonderment as to the criteria used to exclude Iowa from the "recall".

I am awaiting my frame to come in as well. To my knowledge what they showed me on the sheet is everything this is physically ATTACHED to the frame is to be replaced. Frame, Brake lines, lower control arms body and radiator mounts (as someone said before) but I beleive the wiring that is attached to the frame is to be replaced and I KNOW he said the wiring for the trailer harness is to be replaced as well. My truck has an RCD kit on it and I' surprised my dealer in Harrisburg PA didn't give me any grief on that. But needless to say I was NOT letting my truck sit there for 3 months to wait for parts. I have it at home where i know its safe sitting in my garage. I have a company vehicle that i drive normally anyways so thats fine with me. I took my truck in about a month ago and i just called them last week and they said 3-4 months for my parts to come in. Anyway I can get them to speed this up? I'm suprised the OP that lives in pittsburgh is only 2 months out and his truck was "just" inspected

my truck sat at toyota for 10 weeks. no parts ever came in. i tried many times to get the truck back from them but they told me "no way" because of liability issues. i finally went in yesterday and told them i was literally not going to leave until they gave me my truck. needless to say they gave me my truck back. has a small hole in the frame where they punched through by the cat. i don't mind. i'd rather drive the death trap until the parts get in than have it freeze and get crusty on their lot.

Mine had the same quarter sized hole in the frame right by the drivers side cat.. I already had cases over with CAT about this from over a year ago and STILL had my Toyota Case #'s

From what I've been reading...... Be VERY careful. I've read that some dealerships are charging for certain items without your 'permission' to replace them. Some folks have had to pay out $2000 for additional parts.

Technically, I think they're supposed to ASK YOU for permission to replace any parts that are chargable to you.

If you have additional charges on your sheet - I would QUESTION it and even make an attempt to DENY the charges especially if they never requested your permission.

Heard of this very same thing. If it comes to that I work in a parts background I will provide my own parts and replace them myself. or if they took it off warranty should have to pay for the part and the labor to put it back on. I won't pay a damn DIME if they don't ask my permission to replace something that needs to be charged out!

I saw the order sheet for frames and parts today at the dealer. I tried to get a copy but he wouldn't let me have it. The disassembly and assembly instructions he had were there too.
