IMG_0002.jpg This post is referencing the class action suit leading to the FREE manufacturers frame replacement for certain qualifying 2nd gen Tacomas. I don't think it is a specific "recall" exactly.

I have a 2007 TRD sport crew cab (4-door) and I am scheduled to have my frame replaced in a couple of months. Prior to this I had already decided on a huge suspension upgrade including a toytech lift and new shocks with fox or king coil over, air bag for extra weight on rear, etc. I've been told by Toyota that there will be free labor on replacing certain parts (presumably the ones they have to remove anyway). They will also make other requested modifications (including lift) within reason.

THE QUESTION: What else would you guys recommend replacing or modifying while they swap the frame, taking advantage of easy access and mostly free labor?

The other question: Which suspension would you go with and why?

Of note: I've already searched extensively on TacomaWorld and could not find the information I was looking for.

Thank you so much guys and ladies for your advice!

I'm in the same boat. Took my truck into the dealer this morning for routine maintenance and they told me that they found some small rust holes around the body mounts and that I qualify for a frame replacement. I figured it would happen at some point but it surprised me that it happened so soon, considering my Tacoma is a 2010 with just over 100k miles on it.

Buy the parts you want. Take them to the dealer and show them to the Service Manager. (not the service writer)

IF you can make a pre-project deal with the service manager to install your new suspension, then ask him to call when they are ready for the new parts and take them to them then. As opposed to leaving them in the truck at the risk of sticky fingers.

I'd even inventory what you supply, with photos and a 'sign off' from the service manager when he receives them.

    Just because.
