I just got a letter ftom Toyora about the Tacoma through 2017 being granted a 12 year replacement on frames. Anyone else?

It’s only covered for 12 years if you take it within 2 to get CRC coated

Depends. I have a 17, and just got my letter indicating that a campaign would be starting. 12 years from first date of use, but the campaign hasn't officially started yet, unless, you have corrosion presently.

Called my Toyota dealer in salt lake to ask if they did frame coatings ,because my first gen frame rusted to shit and they wouldn’t replace it. So I wanted to be proactive and get it done by Toyota so they wouldn’t deny me like they did the first time. But they don’t do frame coatings in Utah ??? Seems pretty stupid when you are having to fork over a bunch of money to swap frames.

You would think they would have the frame coating problems worked out by now

Your circle indicates to me you understand that "After announcement" of the campaign, the 2 year clock will start. This letter is only a "heads up" of a pending campaign. You can't have anything done unless your frame is currently damaged. They won't apply the CRC until after the campaign is started.

*edit* I didn't see where you acknowledged that the thing hadn't started yet, kind of makes my comment moot.

I have gone through the same process with another Toyota truck.

Seems like this should apply to vehicles registered within some specified mileage from the coastline in addition to cold climates.

My real question is why does Utah not qualify as a cold weather state ?? SALT LAKE City?? You don’t think they use salt on them streets ??

strange that theyre already sending out letters. Wouldn't this only become an issue once frames are starting to rot out prematurely? Or are they basing it on the fact that the frames are the same as the 2nd Gen and manufacturing hasnt changed? Are they just assuming the same will happen?

Are there actually 2016-2019's that already have rotten frames?

I had the undercoating sprayed by the dealer when I took delivery, it’s almost all flaked off now.

Haven’t heard anything like this yet in Canada for the 3rd gen. Is this a U.S only campaign? My 2017 is already showing rust. Not related to the frame my lower control arm is rusting and paint flaking off as well, only 45,000KM
