So... One confirmation that there is no warranty in Canada.
Has anyone else in Canada received anything in writing concerning a warranty after the CRC treatment?

    ^^
I'm in pretty much the same position.
If no warranty I might just stick with Krown.
Truck goes in next week for the inspection, guess I'll see what they say then.

When I spoke with a Toyota Canada rep, he told me that the inspection had to be done by March 2016, and that if the choose to spray it with CRC, there was a 5 year warranty. Might be worth calling and finding out for yourself over trusting the dealer to provide reliable information.

You are wasting your time with the undercoating. They do them at our dealership and it's purpose is to cover the rust up and buy some time to slow down the rust. It dries on hard and after a few years it will crack and hold moisture against the frame. I've seen trucks that had the treatment done that have come back for other service work and the frame is rusting again. The only part of the application that works is the wax substance that's spayed inside the frame. It stays soft and helps protect. If you really want to protect you frame have a oil base product applies yearly. Rustcheck and Krown are good choices.

To the person who had the undercoating that was applied to the underside and not the frame, Toyota's frame spray is only applied to the frame. Undercoating on the floor underside will actually promote rust because it cracks and holds moisture.

No worries TimTac. Let us know how it goes. Seems like we're getting mixed messages.

And thanks for the info Ruggybuggy. It's kind of what I suspected. It's nice to have confirmation. I'm very lerry of letting them do the undercoat. Nice to meet another helpful Dave from Kenora, although for me, it's just part time these days.

    Cheers

It's too bad they don't apply POR-15 or Chassysave. GM has a frame rust issue and they have been using POR-15.

Well, you've given me a direction to go at least. I'll schedule the inspection, and if they recommend CRC over replacement, I'll take my truck elsewhere to have it treated with POR-15, or buy it and do it myself. My frame actually looks pretty good, so I don't think it will be a replacement candidate. It's fairly scaled on the outside, but the inside of the rails, and even the problem area around the cat show very little rust and is still paint covered for the most part.

Good luck with the inspection. I'm not sure if your dealer would only be willing to apply the frame protectant inside the frame only. Its a waxy substance (white bottle) thats applied inside the frame channels. That's what I did on my own truck as well as the other techs at work. None of us did the outside frame spray (two Tacomas and two older Tundras).

Thanks man! I've got one more day of work tomorrow, then I'm off for a week. Might see about getting scheduled in for the inspection, and figure out where to go from there.

Got the call for my replacement for early January; since bumped ahead by the dealership to next week! They're saying 2 days, which seems a bit optimistic, but they're supplying a rental anyway so will see how it goes.

Two days would be pretty hard to achieve unless they have three guys working on it. The guy at our shop takes about 5 days to complete the frame off.

Dealership also indicated I'd be getting a brand-new set of rear leafs at same time. I guess that recall is now being dealt with also!

Yeah I thought it pretty optimistic too. Working around holiday time may delay things also.

Yup, the frame comes with the springs. You also get new brake lines. Do all the nessasary repairs when its in because it will be a whole lot cheaper (clutch?).

Yep. Doing shocks all around and will see what else. Looking forward to how the truck rides once it's all done.

BTW, I'm in Thunder Bay. How's Kenora? We lost 1/2 our snow today - lots of rain! Merry Xmas.

I don't have a clue how Kenora is doing. I've manage to take off three weeks from work and I'm down in Florida. It's was 31C here today!

The truck will drive almost like new. You'll be impressed. Make sure they do the alignment and ask for a printout for your records. Keeps them honest.

BTW, I use to live in Kakabeka Falls and works at Rick's Esso for 8 years.

    Merry Xmas

I have a buddy in Stanley...nothing better than Stanley burgers and a cold beer!

Take care. Will post the results end of next week.

Kenora had about 5 inches of heavy wet snow. Spent the morning behind the snowblower digging out my folks place. Freezing mist and drizzle this evening. Be chiseling the rented Silverado out in the morning. Hopefully the highway is in good shape tomorrow. Have to head to Winnipeg and fly back to Calgary to work through the holiday season. Florida is the place to be right now. Consider yourself lucky Ruggybuggy.

Good luck with your frame replacement T-bay. Hope everything goes back together smoothly and your truck is returned to you good as new. I just had mine in for inspection a week and a half ago. It passed. Thought I'd be scheduled in for CRC, but they did it while they had it. If I had known that's what would happen, I would of tried to get them to do just the inside of the frame as suggested by Ruggybuggy. My fault for not being specific. Never crossed my mind that they would spray it on the spot though. Oh well! It's done now. Hopefully it works as designed and doesn't hasten the rusting process. I have my doubts though. Might be time to start think about a new truck in the next couple of years.

    Happy holidays!

I would still get the frame Rustcheck or Krowned. The oil will keep the soft undercoating from hardening and cracking. Not something that needs to be address right away.

Hey do me a favor and swing by my house with your snowblower and do the driveway!

Yeah, sure. It's the least I could do for the helpful advice.
