Does anyone have a detailed list of the equipment and work that is involved for the frame replacement recall? Also any work performed not covered by the frame replacement recall? If you had the recall performed, were there any problems afterwords? Were you satisfied with the work? I've been on the waiting list since April and am contemplating selling before the frame recall is performed. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I've had mine done since July with no problems. The dealer didn't do any additional work other than the frame replacement, I wasn't charged anything, got a loaner free for a week and they put my rack bushings in at no charge. Here is a generic parts list, mine was the same.

Yep, for about 4-5 months. My frame was kind of peeling and cracked right by the drivers side cat like a lot of others. The dealer poked a hole through it which failed it, and let me drive it while I was on the wait list. I cant find a pic of it right now, I'm sure I took a few though.

Thats exactly what mine is doing...My wife said take the loaner, but I think not having my truck for 4 months or more and wondering where its parked for all that time would bug me. So I would probably drive it like u did. How is your truck after the swap?

157,xxx when it was done, so I didn't argue when they offered to replace stuff at no cost, I already had most of the front end apart recently, so they didnt have to cut anything off. I've seen a few posts about seized/worn out parts being cut off and the dealer charging for those parts. That was my biggest worry going in, but I havent had any problems. It probably rides a little better than it did when I took it in if anything.

Im here at the dealer...they said they never seen a 2005 tacoma this clean. They couldnt find anything to write down on the checklist sheet as far as scratches or dents. Wish me luck

Keep the truck til the recall. It's like a brand new truck and looks alot prettier underneath, even if you still wanted to sell it. Just got mine back. No problems other than it feels a little cramped after driving a full sized rental for 6 months. Haha

Sorry, I was responding to the first post saying he was contemplating selling it before the recall was performed. They would not allow me to drive mine after the inspection even if I had wanted to.

how can they tell you that you cant drive your own truck? I would think the most they could do is say "we suggest you dont drive it".

Depends how bad it is. My wife had a 96 and was told legally they couldn't give her the keys back it was so bad..which just what I saw of it without crawling it made me cringe

Dealership told me Toyota would not allow you to take the truck if your frame was rusted through. I'm sure there's some legality where you could get your truck. But I did not fight it because I was getting it done and they were gonna give me a rental of my choice.

then i would bring it home and park it instead of leaving it there. Last time i was at our dealer i was sitting in my truck and an elderly guy on a test drive squeezed a camry in between my truck and the one next to me. There was maybe 1 foot max space between mine and his. He saw me looking at him and moved. So, no way.

Hers was rusted through in a few spots from what I remember. They already let her get her stuff out and gave her a rental free..this was spring 2008, she was one of the first people in MA to get in

Take pictures of the underneath and body of your truck if you leave it. Had to go at it with the dealership because that busted a CV boot and then tried to say it was like that (total lie). They ended up fixing it after I called toyota.

They failed ny frame today...he also told me that he rather me take my truck while frame is ordered. He said with winter coming and people bumping into stuff all the time. He said my truck would be better off with me until frame arrives. He said 2-3 months. They also did the seat belt recall and also the spiral cable. No of course on the wsy home my steering wheel is way off to the right side. I hope the tech who did my spiral cable isnt the same one doing my frame swap. First time the truck ever seen a lift in over 10 years and already something got screwed up...
