Installed a bumper and winch a few months ago and the frame attachment is thin.

Checking another similar bumper, it attaches almost identically, to the thin frame piece with the same three OEM bolts.

Are you guys installing frame reinforcement brackets with your winch bumpers?

Anybody with an SSO Slimline care to post up which brackets you’re using?

    Thanks

Didn't do it and never seen 'em, but sounds like a good idea.

I haven't yet, in the spring hopefully, but, looking like I am either going to try the C4 fab bracket, or make one similar.

Just an FYI, their website quotes a 20% restock fee for returns.

I was considering them too until I saw that. I’m hesitant to try them without knowing if they’ll work with my (not C4) bumper.

I like the way the Ironman front mounted. It runs a large grade 8 bolt down the middle hole in the flange and then a solid steel nut plate is inserted through the frame and uses the frame to mount the bumper instead of the flimsy flange. I bet you could make the C4 bracket work or have a fabricator make one similar.

Yep. I have a welder, plasma, and a brake, but, I also see no reason it wont... until I have it in hand.

Pretty much my plan. I could make on easy enough if need be. But, time is my enemy

    All the things!
Most if not all of the bumper/frame reinforcement brackets won't work with the SSO. The SSO slimline uses a 3/8" thick backing plate, and that uses up all of the threads on the frame horn studs. You'd have to swap out those studs for longer ones.

SSO claims the Slimline does not require reinforcements, because this thicker plate does a better job (not bending) distributing the load across both horns and all of the studs.

Thank you for this info. SSO addressed my emailed concerns by saying additional reinforcement was only required on other manufacturers bumpers due to a deficiency in their design- not the answer I was expecting.

    Thanks you again.

Well, I guess this would be settled by finding out if anyone with a SSO has had any issues yet.
    I haven't tweaked mine... YET...
May still add some beef somewhere next time I pull it off though. Add 1/4" to the back if the plates, and longer bolts/studs, etc.
    Time with tell.

Agreed, and I was hoping someone would chime in with and SSO.

I’m thinking I may find a local fab shop.

I have one, no damage yet though... but, I'm mindful of it...
