    Hi everyone,

I've been driving my 08 since 09 and I never really noticed this until today, but I do know there used to be cables in those little clasps. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

That big box on the right side of the pic is the fuse box.

That plastic clip holds the front axle vent hoses. Look around, find the hoses and make sure they're attached to the front diff and the actuator.

What ever happened with your head gasket leak?

Oh shoot, I am an idiot - your right the fuse box is right there lol. Duuhhh. But I still wonder what happened to the old cables? I have a very old photo of them (it's bad quality) but it looked like they may have had silver caps on them?

The best shop in Tucson said they no longer do head gaskets. So far I havent had any real issues. Had my water pump and thermostat changed, and they didn't notice any of the gunk that can get clogged up in there from doing the HG liquid repair stuff

Yep, those silver caps are the vents at the end of the vent hoses. Start at the axle and follow the hoses.

Found the photo. Looks like these cables used to be in the empty clasps?

Ah, ok thanks. When my truck came back from my frame replacement, these cables are no longer in the clasps. I'll go look for them now. Thanks!

Update: I cannot find these for the life of me. Do you think it's possible when Toyota changed the frame they forgot to replace the breathers? This is all is see, and ive tried looking online to find where to trace these to, but only rear diff stuff pops up. Thanks

I don't know if you would be able to see it easily but somewhere on top of the diff should be a hose coming out of it... they might've just tied it up to something else instead of putting it in the clamp.

BTW, if you need another shop to work on your truck, Canyon View Automotive which is located just south of Rita Ranch is a really good shop. They aren't the cheapest but they do quality work.

Yeah it seems to me to be kind of hard to get up in there and look. It's kind of crowded and not a very good angle. The search continues lol

Problem solved It's exactly as you said they tucked them away somewhere and just didn't pull them back up into the clasps. Thank you everyone for helping a newbie out!

Good job. Now follow the hoses down to the other end and make sure they're attached at the diff. The small hose is just a slip fit over a metal tube on the actuator. If either are disconnected, you will get water into the diff or actuator.
