Have your dealers been charging you for bolts they broke? My dealer broke a bolt in my sway bar relocation bracket and on my ac compressor. They want to charge me for labour trying to remove the bolts, as well as the bolts, new ac lines, and possibly a new compressor.

When I drove back in to drop off my ome dakar leaf springs (because the technician wasn't sure how to install the d2 add a leaf into the pack), I looked at the broken bolts and there wasn't any evidence of penetrating oil or use of torches. I spoke with the technician and he said he snapped them with an impact wrench.

What has been everyone else's experience?

    Tell them to pound sand!

They get paid very well to change a frame and they expect to break fasteners. I can't beleive they would even waste their time trying to push you pay for something that petty. That is a stupid way to lose a future customer for something so small.

    What Koditten said...

However....you're asking them to install a non-Toyota part (Dakars)? You're lucky they're willing to install them. You might be charged with labor & parts involved with installing your Dakars.... The Dakars aren't covered as part of the frame replacement or leaf spring replacement.

I don't see why it would be an issue installing the dakar leaf pack? They install new leafs as part of the service campaign anyways.... they didn't seem to mind. I don't mind installing them myself if it becomes an issue, but why install a leaf pack deemed to be defective when I have a perfectly good replacement ready to go in.
