I don't personally think they'll extend it - 12 years post first use is quite long as it is to cover rust issues - let alone for all owners (not just original owner). I understand, for example, that there are already complaints by Ford F150 owners who purchased 2021 models are finding rust problems off the showroom floor. My wife's Xterra (purchased with her ex-husband years ago) had to be scrapped after only about 6 years.

Swedes at least USED to do it right. The best cars I have personally seen as far as long term rust were old Volvos (before selling out to China), and Saabs (when they still made them in Sweden).

Weathertech floor liners moded to hold OEM floor mats, weathertech vent visors, Toyota bed mat, LEER 100XL cap, hood gasket mod to stop whistling.
My truck was undercoated today per the Toyota notice, to my surprise CRC per my dealer is fluid film! I already had my truck fluid filmed a year ago, it was all gone in 2 months! IMO, this campaign will prove to be useless!

The goop that was put on mine had a specific Toyota part number (per the bulletin referenced by various individuals). Like other pics I've seen, the one used on mine is definitely thicker and whiter than Fluid Film. There's information somewhere about who actually makes it, but I don't know if it's lanolin based like Fluid Film. If you are sure the goop applied to yours is Fluid Film, it was NOT done per instructions from Toyota to dealers (that I'm aware of). What that would mean as far as warranty, I don't know either.

Look underneath. It's not Fluid Film.

I just purchased this 2012 Access Cab with Cap in early October from St Catherines, having flown one-way from Halifax to pick the truck up. I did this for the sole reason that this truck has the vaunted 6,500 lb TP {Tow Package}. We are rebuilding a vintage B-17 Sasquatch. Alas, there's plenty of rust on the undercarriage despite the low kilometres; i.e., 145,000 on the odometer. The spare had never been dropped, sporting all the nipples on the tread; yet, the metal 'round the valve stem was so rusted that the tire could hold no pressure. 'Sides, the stem was against the floor so an owner had no means of accessing it short of dropping the tire, which, we did. I am now concerned for the rusted underbelly. While waiting for a front hitch to come in for a CTC snowplow {we have an 800' driveway in the woods here} I scraped and wire brushed and blew off with compressed air what I could, waiting for a 10° C day to first use a rust converter then a black Tremclad. I have the K'ville dealer looking into this. I'm sorely disappointed!!!

Jayoh999 Have the local dealer check the vin to see if the PO had the truck in for the recall. If it was done then all they did was inspect it for holes then fill the void between the front frame rails between the cats with goop then put in plastic inserts to keep most of it in. They never coated the rest of the frame with this stuff. They then gave you an extended warranty for the frame for 12 Years from date of in-service which in your case would be 2024. If the PO failed to have the truck inspected and the recall done in the time period specified by Toyota and I think this was around 2018 you are basically out of luck. Unfortunately with these trucks up here in the salt belt its buyer beware, have mine sprayed every year with rust check even though mine is warranted till 2027.

Thanks very much for this speedy reply. The local dealership is looking into the entire matter now. It's a real shame with these Tacomas having a virtual cult following. Yeah, strong motor. No question. This frame issue is catastrophic, since that's the foundation of any vehicle, {along with the motor} as I read reports from others. It takes some getting used to with this truck being two years older than the '14 Accord I sold to purchase this. I have to duck my head each time I enter and exit and I'm only 5'11-1/2" not quite a man yet.

The seats are underwired, yet there's no heated seats, nor motor-driven movement, no heated mirrors and a fan on low speed, that's quite audible and that's with my hearing aids not installed. hahaha. I'm glad it has a CD player as most newer vehicles do not. Lot's of rear tire noise echoin' under the cap at back, so when spring arrives, I may investigate soundproofing the entire cab. Unsure if that's worth the effort. Too much woodworking high frequencies, will do one's hearing in sooner or later even with insertables and muffs. Essentially it'll be a very good drive to pull our vintage Sasquatch.

Seats are under wired for the airbags in them, but if you were to take out the carpet under the seats you would find the wires for the heated seats but they are capped off. Toyota only made two wire looms for theses trucks, access cab and double cab. The problem lies in the power to the seats that is in the engine compartment fuse box, they omitted the fuse assemble and the main power wire through the cab to the heated seat controls. Tried that route out of a wreck and it was not worth it in the end. I did put heated mirrors in my truck from a kit a guy out in BC put together which works great but takes a bunch of work to do as you have to take the mirrors and door cards apart to run the wires.
Your fan just might have a bunch of junk in it as the PO might not have changed the cabin filter located behind the glove box and some crap got in it. The fan is very accessible under it and replacement is easy.

I had no idea there were airbags in the seats. How would they work? I suppose they could shoot out against the door potentially providing a barrier against a side collision and the driver. I will check the cabin filter, thanks. It does seem to work, as I don't smell diesel fumes when on the highway passing trucks, nor do I smell smoke, since the apple farmers burn this time of year, as well as in the spring. I see there are now many choices for after-market mirrors, some with turn signals, some heated and some simply wider and/or taller for specific towing, which, the latter is of great interest to me given the vintage critter we'll be yankin' down the highways in '24. Thanks very much.
