Frame replacement issues

Have had my '06 back for about 1.5 months now. Had to take it back once for a creaking in the front end. Ended up being shifted cab mount. Only issue so far. I only had frame replacement and parts covered in that program replaced.

 

Wow, this is not good and I hope you get this resolved. When you took your truck in, did you have the parts w/you? I am confused though.. What parts were supplied for free in the swap, and which parts did you bring with you? (I'm taking mine in shortly.)

 

It cost me $1200 for rack ,steering shaft ,hoses and thermostat . Hoses and thermostat I wanted replaced as a precaution. This stuff I bought through Toyota. Everything else I purchased on my own . There were no labor charges involved in anything . I am very happy with the finished product and did not mind paying for those parts.I don’t know what you mean by not good ? My truck is practically brand new at almost 11 years old if that makes sense

Find out if you are getting new leaf springs or not with the swap, some people do and some people done, ive heard of both. If you are getting new ones and you have a AAL in the old pack i would take it out! I dropped my truck off Monday morning at 7:30 and got a call around lunch time on tuesday saying that it was done and i could come pick it up.

 

I got new leafs with mine ,junk . I complained to Toyota and they installed my Dakar’s for free after the frame swap was done . Then I sold the new springs they took out for $300

 

@lynyrd3 (Ignore the part where I said resolved! I was thinking about a different post!) When I go to the dealership, for the first time, do I take in the parts? They haven't given me an official yes on the replacement yet. I've got a hole for sure, so I can't imagine them denying me. Thanks.

 

Just let them know what parts you are looking to replace . Then obviously when you drop the truck leave the parts . The dealer I used had no problem using aftermarket parts I supplied but all dealers are different !

 

Bear with me here..I'm not a mechanical gal, but learning. I don't trust the local dealerships here. My problem is I don't know what to replace. I've made my list of: Cab mounts, UCAs, motor mounts, shocks.

My transmission was recently rebuilt, so I'm not sure if there are lines that go with it that need replacing..

Other than these mentioned, I don't know what is vital to replace, especially since the truck is apart. I imagine the bumper is rusted if the trailer hitch is? It's a factory bumper. Thanks again.

 

They will not cover a bumper or hitch for free . It’s not included in the campaign . Have them check the carrier bearing and u- joints . My dealer has replaced over 2000 frames You are a 2006 so maybe check the alternator and hoses too . Good luck

 

@lynyrd3 Will do, and thank you. Yes! Now I remember my mechanic mentioning u joints. If I wait to buy a non Toyota bumper, my independent mechanic can put it on? Time to go to work! Have a good day.

 

Well, guess who still does not have her Taco back....?!
I’ve had to sign 3 loan agreements. Last one expires tomorrow. Guess we will be signing a fourth!
They did tell me it should be ready this week. Not getting my hopes up!
I would have much fathered they did the buy back, like they did for my 1998, it was way less of a hassle!

 

I was just told that time has expired for frame work on my 2006 Tacoma. It will no pass inspection with the large rust hole in the frame. What are my options? Any ideas?

 

They inspected and failed it?
I’d call corporate!

 

I believe the suit covers frame replacement if eligible for up to 12 years after date of first use. So as of now any truck sold after March 2007 would still qualify for inspection and possible replacement.
