    Frame replacement
I have a 2005 4x4 crew that needs a frame replacement & i am wandering what is covered & what is not. How much will i need to pay when done because my truck is for sale. I just bought a new Tundra not knowing that the Tacoma had a rusted frame.

You could ask the dealer and get the right answer too.

some of it is probably up to the dealer but I got antifreeze - new brake lines I think because it was easier then trying to use the old ones - brake fluid - I'd have to find my receipt to check for anything else. There was no charge for anything.

I have a 2010 double cab 4x4 awaiting a new frame. I assume it makes some sense to buy new shocks since they have it apart. It has close to 90K miles. I'm wondering if I can get the rusted trailer hitch and rusted running board connectors replaced. Anything else I should pay for or negotiate, since they will have my truck in pieces? Thank you.

I am going back to the dealer tomorrow so they can take more pics of mine before Toyota America approves the frame swap. The guy at my dealer told me that i have to pay for nothing. They are even giving me a loaner vehicle while it is being done 3-5 days. Told me to leave all my add ons (sliders, etc), on the truck, they would take care of everything. I wont be opting for anything extra besides what they will pay for (ive got new billies already).

You do not have to pay for anything. In the middle of the swap the service adviser will call you to recommend extra services. You can decline or do them. I paid 2.5k because I decided to get what the dealer recommended. In the end if you do not get any shit done then you dont pay.

Toyota has a list of items to be replace on every frame swap, new brake lines, leaf springs and so on. They cover the swap at no cost along with providing a loaner during the process. In my instance, they called and said my rear shocks were bad, which I knew they were and only charged me the cost of the shocks, labor was included in the swap. The techs would rather put new parts in than deal with rusty old stuff. They also found a leaking timing cover on mine and did it for a reduced cost since the motor was already out of the truck, but that was my choice. Mine was replaced over a year ago and has been great, only one small problem about 2 weeks after I got it back, I had a power steering leak, the metal high pressure line was leaking, they helped me on that too and only charged me for the part, no labor. Hopefully yours goes smoothly !!
