Has anyone had their 2010 Tacoma frame replaced yet? I have received the notice(s) from Toyota but have not yet had an opportunity to submit my 2010 Tacoma reg cab 4X4 4cyl man trans for inspection. I'm worried that they will apply the 'CRC' treatment (spray-on 'corrosion resistant coating') over the considerable existing rust and I'll be stuck with it.

Where would one look on such a frame to find the most likely spot for inspection failure conditions? I believe the inspection 'window' for my truck is 12 years from DOFU (Date Of First Use) or year 2021 for me. My truck is mint (aside from the frame rusting) with 37K miles on it. It's my primary 'winter' vehicle and it's extremely valuable to me; I'm not 'selling it back' for 110% of NADA value or anything like that; I'd rather repair the frame myself. Thanks in advance with any info, PM me with particulars if that's appropriate.

Have not had my frame replaced. Did get the corrosion treatment. Their corrosion treatment is legit. I’m pretty happy with it. I’m not sure how bad the rust was before.

Having the corrosion treatment does not impair eligibility for frame replacement.

Take a screw driver and start poking at your frame don’t just do a visual check

Are 2011 Tacoma’s included in the frame program?

    Get under your trucks!
A ball pien hammer/screwdriver works well to test! You don’t need to smash the crap out of it.
If you have had the crc look for places where it like blisters, rust is breeding underneath.
Different dealers do better/worse work. I believe it is a decent undercoating if done right!
Mine was not and did not last the winter of 2015.
The cavity stufff they used really seemed to hold well. I had spent a lot of time under it trying to save it. Pics are after a year of not doing my rust inhibitor. I’d clean and treat after winter and before winter.

1st photo my old frame on top of the last one he did.

2nd photo is why I failed.
Front cross member by the tie down driver side.
Seems a weld burned thru or something?
New frame is solid weld on bottom of gusset mine was not.

    Don’t trust your dealer!
Got a local shop you trust?
Ask them to put it on a lift so you and them if needed can inspect your frame. The tech there was more willing to hit stuff harder than I.
Know your truck if plan on keeping it.
I have had mine back now for 3 days it is amazing.

Jeffch, thanks much for posting the pics. Actually, my frame looks much worse than your old frame but I'm gonna get under there and get a better look soon.
