Going to look at a 2010 Tacoma that had it's frame replaced during the recall. When dealers were replacing frames, was it just the frame that was swapped out, or were other ancillary components considered part of the frame replacement package....brake lines, fuel line, skid plates, spare tire carrier, etc. I would imagine if the frame needed replacement, a lot of other components would be in similar (bad) condition.

    This:

I had my 2009 done in 2020 from Stevenson Toyota in Colorado. They did a great job.
Also had a few other things done while they had it apart.

    Minimally..

Frame, lower control arms, metal brake lines, rear leafs. I had my shocks and coils done as they were original, which cost me parts only.

Pretty sure the tire carrier was part of the frame regardless.

Anyone doing a paid frame replacement (due to recall campaign being out of date at this point - all prices here are in CAN dollars). The new cost of a replacement complete sub-frame has had its part number changed and its price increased from roughly $8000 to $15000 since the campaign has finished. In my case this was nearly equal to the cost of the entire vehicle. I was able to find a used frame 2500kms away for $3500, and shipped to my province for $1500. I then paid my local Toyota dealership $8100.00 to do the frame swap. Prior to that i'd already put in $4000 in parts and labor for new steering assembly, brakes and rotors and front axles and ball joints. The $8100 was basically strictly the labor cost as the used frame i purchased came with spare lower control arms and brake and fuel lines attached. I'm not sure if this info will help anyone in particular, but could be a worth while reference.

For the record, I contacted the group rep for the class action lawsuit for the previous recall campaign and given that it ended in 2017 and as i was a secondary owner to the previous member of that class action, i was ineligible to be represented by them to Toyota. I also launched a website to illustrate the particulars of my case to Toyota Canada outlining faulty metal constituents, milling procedure but most importantly the CRC (corrosion resistance coating) that obscured the frame corrosion to visual inspection at the time of my purchase. More importantly the CRC also was deemed to be a primary contributor to the rot of the frame as it was sealed within and not converted or removed prior to coating. All my threats, did nothing to aid in my appeal to Toyota Canada to assist in my frame replacement whatsoever. With out the means to pay legal council to file a proper suit against Toyota for liability, I was basically left with the only option to foot the entire bill of my own accord. Expensive used Tacoma. Basically paid double its actual value in the end, but its fixed now. I just finished grinding the used replacement frame clean of any surface corrosion, coated with rust converter, painted with black rust paint and now about to do a coat of fluid film (lanolin oil) that i plan to repeat annually. Looks bright and shiny and new now. After a year of struggle i was finally able to get a proper safety done in Manitoba. Nightmare. Somehow i still love this truck. So there is that.

I don’t buy any big ticket items nowadays without doing a little research. There’s so many people that show up here that just bought a used truck and only to find out that it’s rusted out underneath. Buyer beware on all purchases. Period!

No not necessarily. My ‘13 has the sticker since new. Never had a frame recall completed.
